I got it fixed. I noticed that the crash involved quartz.dll and after a bit of research I found a link with powertoys utilities. Little utilities for windows.
I had shut them down before with no change. I finally uninstalled powertoys (they had a new update during the last week) and zoom worked immediately.

    So that’s that.

    Thanks

did you delete your temp folder? type %temp% in the win10 search box.  Try to update from jw.org by downloading the update from jw,org.  I had this same problem last year.
    https://www.jw.org/en/online-help/watchtower-library/update-watchtower-library/
Scroll down to the following section of the page.

follow the rest of the directions on that page.
If you are successful then updates from Watchtower Library may be done from the program update from then on.
That worked for me several months ago and haven't had any more problems.

The latest update in JW Library has fixed the problem of the delay when using the Enjoy Life Forever book.  New version 12.4.190  of the JW Library app  for Windows has solved the problem.  It all works correctly and quickly as it should.  It was worth the wait.

Just a couple of tips re: virtual backgrounds.

    - lighting is the most important thing.
If using a green screen you need consistent lighting across it.
So make sure the green screen is a flat and wrinkle free as possible. ( Mine is stretched over a frame. )
Use lighting from more than one angle to minimise shadows. Eg imagine you are stood at the point of a triangle - you get best effect with at least 2 lights placed at the other points of the triangle in front of you. ( This is similar to what the JW stream studio manual recommends.)

    - if setting a plain background as your virtual background, use a textured image, - any block of colour behind you with no texture or variation is going to look unnatural.  Eg I use a light cream background but it's a picture of a light cream wall so it has imperfections and gradients and most dont realise it's not a real wall behind me.
I also use a light blue version sometimes.

Before building my current PC I was using a sorely underpowered computer: AMD A4-5000 1.5GHz with 8GB RAM

While this PC was totally incapable of virtual backgrounds without a physical greenscreen - I did find that, when I did use the greenscreen it worked, to some extent. The big change came when I added LIGHT ... by making sure I am well lit from the front the problems with my virtual backgrounds went away.

I replaced that PC with one I built. This one is far more powerful: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core 3.50GHz with 32GB RAM

I can now do the virtual background without a physical greenscreen. However, for it to work the best, I still need LIGHT. If I do not have my lights turned on I find that my chair will appear and disappear from time to time, depending on how much I move around. However, if I have my lights on, the chair is not visible and the picture stays clear and all is in focus.

Your computer may be fine, horsepower wise, it could be your lighting. Are you well lit ... especially from the front?

There is an update in Windows to correct a "race error" that causes excessive CPU usage.  I thought this might help but it did not.
So I made a bookmark for each section and heading choice.
Mow I open the book, choose a bookmark and browse the chapters this way.  When i choose anothe bookmark there s no delay getting to another part of the book.
    This will work for now.

    Brand new Laptop: 2.5-3 seconds
    10-year-old Desktop: <2 seconds
Both running Windows 10 Pro and no white background when going back to the table of contents. I do (briefly) see a white background when loading the lesson.

Do you have the same delay when first opening the book from the teaching toolbox or Publications screen?

Trey reacted to carlos in Online JW Tours for Our Encouragement
I have attended a few virtual tours lately, but they were very crowded, with many hundreds of connections, image and audio would freeze intermittently, and from time to time some friend appeared on screen to greet someone or forgot to silence their mics. So I decided to stay away from free tours.

But a friend convinced me to attend a tour today and we were genuinely impressed. It was a tour in Spanish but they also have them in English and Portuguese. They can be booked at www.myvirtualbibletour.com or www.misgirasbiblicas.com.

The one we took was about Abraham, although actually it was more about the interaction between Egypt and Jehovah's servants from Abraham to the Exodus. Our guide, José Fernando, was really knowledgeable and extremely well prepared. He used lots of very attractive images, almost all from our publications, and showed several archeological artifacts from different museums. All the time he was highlighting how accurate our pictures are, since the elements in the pictures were identical with the artifacts. He also disclosed a lot of fascinating details not mentioned in Genesis or Exodus but found in Acts or in Paul's letters. I think we all learned many new details. His exposition was very lively and easy to listen to. It lasted a bit over one hour and a half but it went by so quickly.

There were over 900 connections but our guide handled them very well. Once the tour began, everyone was silenced so there were no distractions. He asked several questions using Zoom polls, then would share with us the results of the poll and then read the right answer from the Bible. My wife was very excited that we got most of the answers correct. The tour is completely free. At the end José Fernando shared his email in case we want to ask any questions or send a suggestion, and he also mentioned we can send a donation by Paypal if we wish.

If you speak Spanish, I heartily recommend that virtual tour, by far the best one I have had. This same brother has another tour about the fall of Babylon that we are planning to book as soon as possible. And there are others by different brothers about the apostle Paul and the history of the Bible.

So for morning worship your end result would be something like this but with download links?

As far as your question, I always assumed the two digital hexadecimal code was random. You may find these links helpful if you decide to go through with it.

We were experiencing the same issue at our KH. I tested with several laptops, reinstalled Windows, installed all updates and drivers and even tried connecting directly from the laptop to a TV, but the issue kept happening. The solution I found was to go into the JW Library app settings when the skipping started, turn off "Play videos on second display" and then turn it right back on again. I hope this helps you.

Trey reacted to Thesauron in How to search using an * on Watchtower CDRom
Example: When you search inside a publication in JW Library, say, using the word “me”, what comes up are sentences with the word “me” in them. But searching for “me*” will bring up “men”, “means”, etc. So the asteroid becomes like a placeholder for any other letter(s). If you search the online library, “*me” will bring up hits like “become” or “come”

Edge of the eye-wall hitting our area. Just lost power. Thought I might skate by with power this storm like Matthew but didn't make it.
