  1. Would love your input as to who should have their name first on wedding invitations. Clearly, there aren't scriptural principles specific to this. But I was having a conversation on this subject and two friends had opposite opinions.
  2. Just read this article on www.businessweek.com. Here's an excerpt: "Watching a religious leader celebrate a mall may seem surreal, but City Creek reflects the spirit of enterprise that animates modern-day Mormonism. The mall is part of a vast church-owned corporate empire that the Mormon leadership says will help spread its message, increase economic self-reliance, and build the Kingdom of God on earth." Edit to add a second quote: “We look to not only the spiritual but also the temporal, and we believe that a person who is impoverished temporally cannot blossom spiritually.” Impoverished = Reduced to poverty; poverty-stricken. Temporal = Pertaining to or concerned with the present life or this world. So that is some quote. He is saying that you can't blossom spiritually in this world if you are poor.
  3. Reading this brought a pleasant smile to my face. I can't even imagine how satisfying it will be when Jehovah truly vindicates his name.
  4. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/07/01/us-usa-utah-mormons-idUSBRE86000N20120701 "Among the reasons cited by those resigning are the church's political activism against gay marriage and doctrinal teachings that conflict with scientific findings or are perceived as racist or sexist. Others cite inconsistencies in the Mormons' explanation of its own history, including the practice of polygamy. The church renounced plural marriage over a century ago as Utah was seeking statehood." Jehovah's people have a firm stance on the gay marriage issue as well; but we would never become politically involved in the issue. In any event, these headlines are becoming common occurrence.
  5. And especially Christianity, according to Congressman Al Green. Link to story "Congressman Al Green (D-TX9) has said that Rep. Peter King (R-NY3)'s hearings on the radicalization of Islam in America were justified only if such hearings were to take place on the radicalization within every religion." "“If you agree that radicalization exists within all religions to some extent, would you kindly extend a hand into the air,” Green asked witnesses and, as reported by The Raw Story, all hands were raised." Nothing eye popping here. We know that Christendom will be the first to go when the governments turn on Babylon the Great. (Revelation 17:16-18)
  6. And in UZBEKISTAN: "Imminent expulsion for exercising religious freedom?" www.forum18.org
  7. "Asked about these and other physical attacks on religious minorities, the new Head of the State Commission for Religious Affairs (SCRA), Abdilatif Zhumabayev, told Forum 18: "We need to protect the rights of the majority." One Jehovah's Witness commented that "failure to prosecute the persons who carried out the mob violence in May 2010 is no doubt the main reason why the mobs felt they could attack our community again in 2012". www.forum18.com
  8. The article says this man was, at the time, a witness elder for 40 years. He was in critical condition, with over 60% of his body covered in burns. The doctors told him he had a 3% chance of living without a blood transfusion. He accepted the transfusion. I call it a hit-piece because the article makes it seem as if no one had been there for him, and even that his wife divorced him for accepting the transfusion. In any event, he now works with the Baptist church and does volunteer work. I don't want to see any of us have to make that kind of choice. But I hope and pray that we will lean upon Jehovah and trust in him when it matters the most. When I thought about it, I felt a little saddened. Is extending your life a few years worth losing everlasting life? Article about Mario.
  9. Prince Fans To Celebrate His Birthday Downtown "On Thursday, the Minneapolis-native musician Prince turned 54 years old. He may not celebrate his birthday any longer since becoming a Jehovah’s Witness, but that’s not stopping others from honoring the artist."
  10. I thought this was a positive article from a Corpus Christi, Texas site about a 12-year old brother who will be baptized this weekend at the District Convention: 12-year old to be baptized this weekend I especially like the quote that: "The road to baptism was not a casual stroll for Jaedon."
  11. The actual wealth is staggering. The Sistine Chapel alone has an estimated value in the trillion-dollar range. However, the Vatican says that it is actually priceless, and thus, it is valued by the church at one euro for accounting purposes. And they do this with many of their assets. Here is a quote from a book entitled the Vatican Billions: Yikes. I just did some basic calculations. The 28 archdioceses and 122 dioceses of the USA alone are worth tens of trillions!!! Now let's add in the rest of the globe and the Vatican assets.
  12. Micah, The story is no longer available on the WSJ site. Here is the story on another site: US military course taught officers 'Islam is the enemy'. These are excerpts of the course: — "They hate everything you stand for and will never coexist with you, unless you submit." — "Islam as it currently defines itself is an ideology rather than solely a religion with the normally associated protections we afford such beliefs." — "It is therefore time for the United States to make our true intentions clear. This barbaric ideology will no longer be tolerated. Islam must change or we will facilitate its self-destruction." — "The United States has come to accept that radical 'true Islam' is both a political and military enemy to free people throughout the world." — Possible outcomes of an anti-Islam campaign: "Saudi Arabia threatened with starvation, Mecca and Medina destroyed, Islam reduced to cult status." I just came across another article showing the additional classes such as these have been discovered: Another course discovered. A quote from this article: "It is therefore time for the United States to make our true intentions clear. This barbaric ideology will no longer be tolerated. Islam must change or we will facilitate its self destruction.'"
  13. The title says it all. Mormons Join Utah Gay Pride Parade And the distinction just becomes clearer and clearer..... Malachi 3:18 " And YOU people will again certainly see [the distinction] between a righteous one and a wicked one, between one serving God and one who has not served him.”
