  1. I remember hearing this I think in a zone talk (or some other big link-up at least, maybe even an annual meeting) and it was related as being in an unnamed Eastern European country (implied to be Russia) and the literature was a bible teach book. I’m very dubious of experiences like this unless they are in print (which I hope someone finds that this one is). Turns out I’d asked this same question and forgotten I’d even asked it:
  2. It’s Milford Sound (fjord) in New Zealand taken back in August.
  3. I hope we will celebrate festivals like they did in ancient Israel but imagine the fabulous style with which we celebrate as a perfect society. If Jehovah does decree festivals, imagine how we will commemorate our deliverance through the tribulation. Think of the songs we will write, think of the ways we will express our joy and our thankfulness. International Conventions are a small glimpse of our potential for celebration. And while there is reason to believe we won’t live in cities, on some level we will still need design for structures and if we do have any version of cities things like city planning will be done perfectly. In every part of the world I have visited I have always observed some public area or structure that has been poorly designed. In the new world that will not be an issue, plus we will not need to worry about issues like security or hostility or even disabled accessibility; two elements will rule when it comes to design - style and practicality. It is a true joy of mine to see style and practicality combine to make something beautiful, whether it be in fashion, inventions, or architecture. That is a hallmark of Jehovah’s creations, beautiful but purposeful. In the new world we will be free of today’s constraints i.e. money, time, self-interest etc. and we will be able to design, plan and build to our heart’s content and all without harming the planet, everything in harmony.
  4. “And if you get your husband to become a distributor too we offer a great range of benefits for couples - including our home relocation package - we have a new development opening up just outside of Eden that we think you’ll love”
  5. I think while the timeline is clearly not specific In it’s dates for the future, it does emphasise that Prophecy has taken us all the way to the threshold of the Great Tribulation, with the exception if the Cry of Peace (which itself is followed almost immediately by the outbreak of the tribulation), we are not waiting for anything else to be fulfilled before we enter the Tribulation. It really is an “any day now” - “could be in tomorrow’s news” situation. It seems there is nothing left for the last days to do in terms of prophecy - the next prophecies to see fulfilment are those successively falling dominoes of the GT/Armageddon.
  6. I tried both these methods continually and then suddenly the app crashed and when I opened it everything started coming through. Thanks all. Glad to have that back up and running!
  7. Hi friends, Hoping someone can help. I was having trouble with JW Library and decided to reinstall the app, having done this I knew I would need to re-download publications, strangely though I seem to have limited access to publications. No watchtowers or meeting workbooks, limited media available. I will attempt to attach a video. Seems strange, not sure if its just an issue that will get an update or whether the issue is with me. 8. Hi, I am looking for help to find/verify an experience I distinctly remember hearing, I think it was in a special talk or a zone talk. Pretty sure it was before the broadcasts had started. The experience went this way: In a land under restrictions the authorities planted a (banned) bible teach book in the oven of this witness couple. They arrived for the search and made a show of looking around other rooms the house instead of going straight for it. In this time a fellow witness had arrived with a pie. Realising they were in the middle of a search the witness elected to place the pie in the oven and sneak away unnoticed. On finding the book in the oven the witness takes the book (knowing it would soon be found by the search team) and left the pie in its place. Thus when it came for the “aha” moment and the oven was opened all involved were shocked to find a mystery pie in the oven, none more so than the officers who knew they had put a teach book there. I am certain of hearing this experience however I have no memory of where I heard it and I wish to verify it before sharing it. It was maybe 5(?) years ago now I remember it being a real talking point after the talk. I believe it was a special talk or zone talk back when link-ups were relatively new. Somehow hoping someone else knows for certain the origin of the story in order to confirm it is not simply a legend.
  9. http://www.bbc.com/travel/gallery/20190827-a-mystery-in-the-worlds-oldest-desert I found this to be interesting in line with the final book setting.
  10. I saw this photo on a wall in the Holocaust Museum in DC and it didn’t identify the type of prisoner photographed and given that it is Black and white one cannot tell the color of their triangles. I have a feeling I have seen it in a video or publication somewhere however in my digging I haven’t found anything? Yet I am certain I saw it prior to my visit to DC (only a couple of months ago) because when i looked at the photo even though it had no identifiers I thought: “those are witnesses!” But maybe its just the Mandela affect? In my online research there seems to be no identification either as all the photo descriptions will simply refer to them with the general term “prisoners”. Anyway my question is, does anyone know for sure if these are witnesses/if it was in a publication?
  11. Hi Friends, [This probably isn’t the right place so please move if need be I wasn’t really sure where it should go.] Anyway I am going to visit Israel in a couple of weeks and just wondered if anyone here has ever been? If so care to share any tips? Or any who have always wanted to go is there anything especially you long to see? We haven’t gone with any tour companies as none of the witness company’s had tours to match our dates and the rest spend too much time at Christendom’s shrines. We do have an itinerary and have booked in to the branch tour as well as other activities only possible with guides. I guess I am just looking for any tips or suggestions in case there is something we don’t know that we haven’t included. Or perhaps a very popular destination that you think isn’t worth seeing. I also wonder if anyone has been to Vad Yashem (the holocaust museum in Jerusalem). You see I have it in the itinerary, and it would be great to see regardless of whether it has any mention of witness persecution but I have been to the US holocaust museum in Washington DC and I am going to Auschwitz in Poland just after Israel so I feel that if it doesn’t make any comment on our brothers and sisters then I may not go. It wouldn’t surprise me, or even to me seem very wrong if it didn’t mention us as I can imagine it is the story of the Jewish people by the Jewish people if that makes sense. Not that I do not wish to learn about the plight of the Jewish people, I would just prefer to do so in a place where I can learn of the plight of my own brothers and sisters as well as the other victims.
  12. In fact you can actually see the dark grey space at the bottom of the right hand side of the screen (below the picture on the tablet screen) which is the same colour as the space you get on ipad Books app.
  13. This is what it looks like to me. Split screen with JW Library open to the bible and a PDF of the WT about Gog but I could be wrong.
  14. I think it’s just split screen jwlibrary/iBooks or some other PDF reader.
  15. He commented somewhere that he sometimes reads the posts here but feels no need to join. Sounds like the perfect cover for someone already here but not wanting to draw attention - just kidding about that last part ;P
  16. I love circle dances! At gathering’s I organise I try to teach different circle dances I have learned over the years. Like line dancing they are pretty easy to pick up and give a very group atmosphere. I look forward to the new world when, free from the connotations of today, we will be able to sing and dance without calling to mind any resemblance to christendom’s way of worship. Satan’s world takes beautiful things and makes them ugly by association, I am happy with any opportunity to “steal” back beautiful things (such as styles of music, haunting choirs, jazzy clapping/dancing songs) for Jehovah’s praise, as he is the source of all good things. As long as such things never outshine/detract from the truth. One can find fault with every practice if one wanted to (e.g. wedding bands) so at the end of the day while my own conscience will guide my decisions, one way or the other no one can advance their own opinion as guidelines otherwise we may end up like the pharisees with long lists of “do’s and don’ts”. I am sure there will be direction from the organisation if they feel we are becoming “worldly” or taking it too far. Jesus has a good eye on things I am sure. If on a local scale, in line with cultural sensitivities, the brothers taking the lead feel the need for adjustment then I am sure we will follow their direction. In the meantime I will enjoy the wholesome upbuilding singing and dancing. Though not common in my area in spiritual contexts, in my travels I have found it in abundance, though it is still mostly outside of the kingdom hall. On a side note I avoid the comments sections of most youtube/facebook videos as I am sure many apostates may pose as brothers in order to incite controversial discussion. Not that I am saying that is the case in the example you mention, just my way of avoiding unhappy attitudes.
  17. Just finished. Read the final 15 chapters in one go. Phew! As someone who read Critical Times but has otherwise not followed EK Jonathan’s writings closely, discovering the Flee series only about a month ago was perfect timing as I havent had to wait too long as both the first two books were already out and I only had to wait a few weeks for the release of Stand. His youtube channel which I have started going through has been very interesting.
  18. Is there an exact release date for Stand? I think Evan maybe was hiding under Bo’s bed? Seems a stretch and the book implies more like it was a note or something made of paper that was between the mattress and the frame so I am probably wrong about it being Evan. Maybe something that makes us reassess Bo being there with good motives? Maybe his death was providence? Although this seems unlikely too. I hope Bo was genuine. Has to be more than a note, has to be something immediately obvious as it made Peter gasp. I hope Ted will be okay and Angelica and Evan. Sounds like Joyce has just run into witnesses . The context heavily suggests its witnesses but doesn’t explicitly say though I’m 99.9% sure, the only thing that makes me doubt is they don’t offer for them to join, just offer supplies at first. Anyway I will be waiting anxiously for Stand. I have read Critical Times three times. I don’t like the FLEE series as much as critical times but its still good. Some things are a little more hard to swallow like the Thiago/Angel thing but then I’m sure this is building to a very ironic end for Thiago. I don’t enjoy following Chad and Martin’s story though I suppose its useful to show the deteriorating condition outside the camps. Also Joyce’s situation is hard to read though, not bad. Just hard, you feel such pity for her. But reminded me of the Walk by Faith drama when the border got closed, like army that returned and trapped the couple who went back. Still glad that it looks like she will be okay. I think stacy getting injured and joyce having to freak out and endure all this anxiety and stress was to show you cant blatantly ignore direction and expect smooth sailing (if you’ll pardon the pun).
  19. https://www.jw.org/en/whats-new/bible-teachings-section-redesign/ still no singles section also sorry if there is already a topic on this, presumably this being announced now hasn’t got anything to do with the AM tomorrow?
  20. "The Schoolgirl, The Nazis, and The Purple Triangles" is a really good documentary about Simone Arnold Liebster and he experience as a young witness under Nazi rule.
  21. I am reminded of Esther, the decree had been sealed with the king's own ring. The decision had been made. Jehovah's people were to be removed. Yet Jehovah was by no means to be outdone. Jehovah manoeuvred things so that ultimately what was to be a dark day for his people, became a triumph. The celebration of Purim still held by Jews even today. Perhaps a similar situation, no I'm not saying Mrs. Putin is gonna turn out to be a secret bible student, but Jehovah may have bigger plans in mind, things may yet turn out for an even greater witness.
  22. As I understand it one of the exwitnesses testified that he was forbidden from higher education. The fact that three doctors were among those witnesses who had just testified does rather make for an awkward experience surely. And too are the lawyers themselves witnessses? If so this would add to the real contradiction of the testimony.
