  1. I say "Alexa, ask jw.org to play this week's bible reading", or whatever I want to listen to.
  2. I forgot all about this topic! Here is an update for anyone interested ☺️. We didn't end up getting that house, as someone else put in a higher bid. HOWEVER, in August we found another house in the same territory with a better layout and for less money. We take possession next month, and are currently in the middle of selling our current house.
  3. After this incident, the law firm I work for quickly instituted an AI policy; https://aibusiness.com/nlp/-chatgpt-lawyer-faces-sanctions-for-fake-cases
  4. My husband and I have been looking for a property out of the city for a few years, but it is hard to find one that ticks all our boxes (high speed Internet, bungalow, etc.), and when we see one it's often at the top of our price, or we don't act quickly enough and it's sold. On Friday we saw a listing that was almost exactly what we're looking for, listed at the low end of our price range. We went to look at it yesterday (a seven-hour round trip), and it's very nice. To top it off, there is a kingdom hall at the end of the road (11 km), and it is fragrance free! We're still praying about it, but I would love to be able to go back in person!
  5. My husband is programmer. He works for a medical laboratory and is an applications developer/high level support person.
  6. I'm so sorry. Also, hope you feel better soon.
  7. I understand the pain. In February 2021 we took our almost 13 year old German Shepherd in for an ultrasound. An hour later the vet called to say she had a ruptured hemangiosarcoma and was bleeding internally. Thirty minutes after that we said our goodbyes and held her for the last time. We are now nearing the time that we have to let our other old girl go. Maybe she'll make it to 13 in December, but I am doubtful. She has a heart condition and nasty perianal fistulas. Because of the heart medication there isn't much that won't interact with those pills that would be effective for the fistulas.
  8. I am so sorry to hear this. Our pets really mean a great deal to us, don't they? Jehovah created us with the desire to take care of them, and part of taking care of them is letting them go when it is time, whether we're ready to say goodbye or not 💔. My heart hurts for you.
  9. I visit this site on my mobile. I will PM you my number.
  10. I'd love to be added to the Dutch group! Great way to sharpen my waning language skills.
  11. I found out today that one of my co-workers who is currently on maternity leave went to visit her family in India two months ago, and now can't get back to Canada. She said that they are on the opposite side of the country from the major breakout, and are being very careful, but I just can't understand why she took the risk of going in the first place. I hope she gets home safely, whenever that may be.
  12. Oh, I should mention that these awesome people are our sisters
  13. My very talented friend Marilyn wrote a book. And not just any book, a children’s book illustrated by my other very talented friend Mikaela (and yes, I may have introduced them 😊). The book is available on Amazon. Check out the video below for more illustrations 😊 Sorry, if this is not allowed, please delete.
  14. Not joining the thread, but it's the second part of a knock-knock joke. The full joke is: Knock, knock. Who’s there? Banana. Banana who? Knock, knock. Who’s there? Banana. Banana who? Knock, knock. Who’s there? Orange. Orange who? ORANGE YOU GLAD I DIDN’T SAY BANANA! Still not funny, but there you have it
  15. Folks, always use the correct charger! Hubby accidentally plugged his headlamp into the wrong one last Tuesday and it exploded. Luckily the damage was minimal, just a mess from the fire extinguisher.
  16. They will need to show something in writing. Verbal consent won't hold up in court, as far as I know.
  17. Now that I'm working from home, I lost the little exercise I did manage to get from walking to and from the train station to my office, so I recently joined an online exercise plan, that I am actually enjoying. I've never felt comfortable at a gym, being overweight and uncoordinated, but I am loving the positivety of this program ("progress, not perfection"). I still need to address my diet, but one change at a time. 😊
  18. Working in a toxic workplace some years ago, my continues thought was "this is my job, this is not my life".
  19. I didn't read all the pages, but I made bacon crack today. It really is addictive! Pillsbury dough, bacon, brown sugar, syrup, cayenne pepper
  20. I just want to express my appreciation to Hatcheckgirl for putting this together. My husband and I enjoyed each and every day's production. It really helped to visualize it all. Thank you!!
  21. I really liked Wet Desert by Gary Hansen. Grant Stevens, a mid-level manager for the Bureau of Reclamation, only wanted to build dams. He never imagined he would be swept into a desperate race against an environmental terrorist bent on restoring the Colorado River by blowing up the dams. Left temporarily in charge of the Bureau, Grant must react when the first dam is attacked. He faces the unthinkable task of mitigating the massive flood roaring down the Colorado. The flood will eventually threaten the mighty Hoover Dam, and if Hoover fails, the other dams downstream will fall like dominos. Working with the FBI, Grant uses his engineering skills, river knowledge, and plenty of gut instinct in an attempt to outmaneuver the terrorist. The chase will lead all the way downstream to the Gulf of California in a cat and mouse game where the stakes are high and the potential for destruction is enormous
  22. Here is Diva's daily cookie song & dance routine (actually, she tries this multiple times per day, but I only give in once a day).
