  1. Hi Dorothy, I have used the light for two years when living further North and 15 mn a day worked wonder but like you say, there is nothing like the sun. Even now, if the sun is out, I take my class out to enjoy it - no matter the weather outside hot/cold just because it does us good. I feel for you! May the warmth and love here somehow help!
  2. The example of Moses ... leading so many people and most who were stubborn. He had his moment of weakness but in the end he was always faithful. I want to hear about how he felt and how he dealt with the people. His example is namely what taught me that whatever others are doing does not give me the reason to react badly or wrong because I am just going to ruin myself having to pay for my own "wrongs".
  3. This is the picture of our brothers and sisters doing the cart work in front of the White House last Thursday. I would say it is something we can expect but what struck me was that they were right in front of the White House and on the opposite side there were "protesting" people. They were quiet too (sorry did not take a picture). The thing is they had a message of peace, asking, wanting to end war but somehow it was not attractive. These persons gave the impression that they were homeless and it might have made people afraid may be? On the other hand I saw people approaching the sisters and brothers, so much so that I had not had the chance to talk to them. My point is (and this is from someone who has grown up in a very poor country). Our appearance definitely enhances or degrades our message. In a poor country like where I am originally from the first thing people do when learning about Jehovah is have soap and water. And it changes much! They are very modest but clean, enough to gain respect. I just thought that was a contrast worth noting.
  4. This is funny because I went to a planetarium today and one of the showings was "journey to the stars". It was a lot like that video but imagine, you are in your seat, looking up, the screen is a dome and you feel like in space...They zoom in and show you from earth where Andromeda is and you travel there - far, far that they say what we see is actually the past because it takes light years to travel ( I don't think I quite understood that though). I had tears, being in awe seeing how majestic and grand and infinite Jehovah must be. Right there, it reminded me too how small and insignificant I am. I would recommend anyone to visit a planetarium, it is worth it. This is my second time being in one, I could have stayed there all day. This time there was no one next to me but my first time, I was so moved, I had to say something to share it so I looked next to me in the dark and told whoever was there: how awesome is this? I just needed to say it out loud. Thanks for sharing Brother Neil! I had wanted to share what I saw at the planetarium but with only a description, it would have been hard. Great you had that video!
  5. Nice to see clearer what makes a person righteous. Also, I did not fully realize people could really promise things they have no intention to keep at all even in all day relationships... Sadly, that's the true reality!
  6. Thank you! But don't worry if there isn't anyone you know. Like I said, I plan on just showing up at the Hall Saturday Many thanks again!
  7. Sorry but this is the one who English is not her first language... What is DPA? For all I know as a witness we have the no-blood card. And to take it on a lighter note: in French DPA is short for date probable d'accouchement or your probable due date (giving birth) for pregnant women OK Tammi will PM you!
  8. That is too funny I usually call ahead to inquire about the time at the Hall and tell them a bit about myself then if I make it to a meeting before, it is a better way to get them to know me. But yes, there were times people were not sure about me and it is understandable... But they asked tons of questions and then it seemed to be all good later : D
  9. Just in case you need it since you do not know me, I have met 2 sisters in person from the forum who could tell you more about me ... I guess it is always different to hear about someone who has actually seen you. Plus someone here knows my old congregation (so people whith whom I associated with) and also we have friends in common from Madagascar where I am from, all that in the truth!
  10. Hi Tammi, not sure if you will get this in time but wanted to ask you if you know a sister in Baltimore at all whith whom I could make arrangements with for service this Saturday? I would usually just go to the Hall but it is nicer if I actually "know" someone before going... Thank you!
  11. Not playing anymore Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  12. Thank you for this! Was wanting to go to the movies but was not sure what to see! I am into spy movies (grewing up with German "krimis") but now these movies always say violence. Some of my favorite moments were watching a movie that has been on for a while and have the entire theater for me or just a few because most have seen it, may be would get that with this movie being out for a while now?
  13. I don't think he meant it was designed for the brothers exclusively. Rather for men. One way or another, funny how I tried to find info on it in Google (who designed it or some history about it) and instead it is that talk audio that I find used by anti-jw and pictures of the brothers.
  14. It sounds like the talk was about modesty and soundness of mind because what he says was always taken back to that verse. Now, I did not know that tight pants were designed by homosexual or what was he trying to say? Did I understand that correctly? For some reason, I have not really noticed then on men though. I know that women wear skinny jeans but men? Or I live in a more traditional area. Thank you for the link. How do one find such a specific portion of a talk like that brother Eric? Thumbs up! And thank you again!
  15. Oh just noticed... Heather and Heather! May Jehovah continue to give you two strength!

How I Found the Truth

  • How I found the Truth
My Mom was baptized when I was 5. At 13, my Dad passed away and I had questions like: is the resurrection really going to take place? Can I really know Jehovah and trust him? Studied the Bible on my own to find the answers, Psalms 34:8 came true and I dedicated myself to Jehovah.
