  1. 11/2 C white sugar (or you can use 1C white, 1/2 C brown) (you can also use only 1C of sugar for a less sweet bread) 1/2 C vegetable oil (batter is wet, can substitute apple sauce, but add about 10 minutes baking time) 2 eggs 13/4 C sifted white flour (or you could do 1/2 of it wheat) 1ts baking soda 1/4 ts salt 1/2 ts cinnamon 1/2 ts nutmeg (optional) 1/3 C water 1C cooked/mashed sweet potatoes (or yams) (can used canned, I prefer fresh and I bake them over boiling them) 1/2 C chopped pecans (optional) combine sugar and oil, beat well, add eggs and beat well (use larger of 2 bowls) combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg in separate bowl add flour mixture to egg mixture, alternating with the water stir in sweet potatoes and nuts just until combined... do not over-mix (this is a wetter-type batter/dough) pour into 9 x 5 loaf pan (can also make them into muffins, adjust bake time) bake in 350* oven for about 1 hour
  2. Sweet potatoes are great in a beef stew, especially when you use a beefy, tomato base with a little bit of burgundy. They add a nice balance to the savory! Also, sweet potato rolls and breads, made with whole grain flours like wheat and oat, really add a nice dense, moistness while infusing the whole grain flours with just a hint of sweetness! Good with the stew or a roast beef dinner, a turkey dinner or chicken dinner!
  3. LOL! Love that show! Never thought of it like that!
  4. My mother and her whole family studied "Let God Be True", they were all baptized at the same time, in a pool underneath a Kingdom Hall platform, somewhere on the Westside of Cleveland, in 1956. It was my mom, her 2 sisters, her mom and dad and her Aunt! I think that is sooo cool! Also, there were only over 450,000 publishers, earthwide, at that time!
  5. Well, I was raised in the Truth, however, I went through the Live Forever Book, I was baptized in 1988.
  6. No, it is not politically correct and can be considered offensive to some, even though it is funny. It depends on their sense of humor!
  7. I loved this Drama a few years ago! Murmuring is a dangerous game that I don't want to play. An innocent comment can turn so easily into gossip and murmuring. No matter what, we need to support God's arrangement on earth, it is a perfect arrangement being run by imperfect humans. So many time our pride gets in the way of the ultimate purpose so we must "check" it at the door, so to speak, and leave the running of our Organization and Congregations to Jesus and Jehovah. This is one of the best ways to display how strong our faith in Jehovah really is.
  8. So, I made this for dinner tonight. It was sooooo good, every single member of my household LOVED IT! Seriously, I did not feel like cooking (I never feel like cooking, lol!) but Mexican sounded good. So, I had a box of slightly out of date taco shells, some left over Doritos, both nacho and cool ranch varieties. Not a great start! I only had 2 soft taco shells.... so.... I searched my pantry and here is what I came up with. Mexican Casserole Family pkg. of ground beef (about 2 lbs.) 1 ½ C rice – cooked 1 can corn 4 Cups shredded cheese (your choice) 1 sm. Can tomatoes with green chilles 1 sm. Can tomato soup 3 Cups water 1 burrito seasoning pkt. 1 taco seasoning pkt. 1-enchilada sauce seasoning pkt. Onion powder (to taste) Garlic powder (to taste) Paprika (to taste) 4 Cups Crushed chips (taco shells, tortillas, doritos…. Your choice, I used taco shells, cool ranch and nacho cheese Doritos) Mix enchilada sauce pkt., burrito seasoning pkt., tomatoes –w- green chilles, tomato soup and 2 Cups of water together, set aside…. Cook Rice Cook ground beef, add seasonings, drain, then add taco seasoning pkt. and 1 C water Add rice and corn and mix together, cover til well blended and bubbly. Layer ½ of chips in bottom of baking dish ½ of ground beef mixture 2Cups of cheese Repeat layers: chips, other 1/2 ground beef, cheese. Bake at 350 for ½ hour Serve with sour cream (optional), guacamole, (optional) Serves at least 12 people with good appetites!

  10. hahaha! sounds like a question and answer from a blonde contestant in a Miss America Pageant! Kind of like, How do you keep a blonde busy all day? Give her a bag of M&M's and tell her to put them in alphabetical order!
  11. yes, premade or store bought biscuits, you just flatten them out a little, put chunks of cheese in them, fold the biscuit over the cheese, I kind of rolled them in my hand to form a stuffed biscuit roll, then roll them in the melted butter, and repeat...
