  1. I found this one beautiful. This adorable little sea sheep, whose beady eyes and cute feelers make it look like a cartoon sea sheep, feeds on algae. What is your favorite animal/s?
  2. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/21/well/move/weight-training-fat.html July 21, 2021 Lifting Weights? Your Fat Cells Would Like to Have a Word A cellular chat after your workout may explain in part why weight training burns fat. Sophisticated experiments show that muscles, for instance, release a cascade of hormones and other proteins after exercise that enter the bloodstream, course along to various organs and trigger biochemical reactions there, in a process known as cellular crosstalk. Our tissues also may pump out tiny bubbles, known as vesicles, during crosstalk. Once considered microscopic trash bags, stuffed with cellular debris, vesicles now are known to contain active, healthy genetic material and other substances. Released into the bloodstream, they relay this biological matter from one tissue to another, like minuscule messages in bottles.
  3. Iberian Lynxes have vertical pupils and superb vision, particularly during low visibility. They have amazing eyesight and can even spot a tiny mouse from a very far distance! While all of us would love to have great eyesight, as Jehovah’s people we can have something more valuable, great “insight”. Just an the Iberian Lynx was given outstanding eyesight by the Grand Creator, outstanding “insight” is given to us by Jehovah if we seek it. “insight” can helps us to “see” beyond what the average person can see! The Grand Creator also designed Iberian Lynxes with the ability to be incredible swimmers and climbers! Each of us as Jehovah’s people must be like the Lynx, we cannot be poor “climbers” or “swimmers”. Meaning that each of us are going to face more “obstacles” here in the future, including the biggest obstacle, the Great Tribulation. So we must develop a very strong spirituality in order to “climb” over all types of rough obstacles and be able to “swim” through the deepest of problems! And finally 1 other wonderful thing about the Iberian Lynx. When they are young kittens, if they are in a good, safe environment with other animals around, these Iberian Lynx kittens tend to get attached to others around them! These young ones are easy to train and they develop good social skills. Can you tell by these picture how they get attached to others?
  4. There are soooo many cute animal pictures, I figured it should have its own section. Here are a couple. Fawndog and the owl & the pussycat.
  5. Hi Everyone, Brother Nnaemeka recently asked an interesting question on a topic he started about the term "Human Being". And so I thought that maybe it would be fun if we started a topic that was just about the term "Being". So what is the true meaning of a "Being"? Is a "being"defined by what the secular dictionaries say? Or should the term "being" be defined by science? Or is this term or idea of the term found in the Bible anywhere? And if Jehovah hasn't defined it for us, then how should it be defined? Could it be any living creature that exists on earth or in heaven? Or does a "being" only mean the Creator himself? Or could it include any self-sustaining/immortal creature such as Jesus and the 144,00? Or could a "being" even include robots or an android? Are animals beings? If so, what about an insect? What is the deciding factor or factors for something to truly be defined as a "being"? A fun discussion but this would be just about the term and not about whether a person should use the term as that is what Brother Nnaemeka's topic is mostly about. Or unless Brother Nnaemeka or the Moderators feel that these topics should be merged? Either way, sounds like an interesting discussion. Any thoughts?
  6. So for those of you who don't know, I work in a pet store, and one of my jobs is to feed the snakes. Not my favorite thing to do; I don't like feeding live rodents to the snakes. But they have to eat too so I do it, and I love my snakes. One of our snakes is a beautiful female ball python that I've named Canaan. (Don't ask.) Weirdest thing she did today. She has never done this before. I had to clean the snake tanks today. So during tank cleaning day each snake gets a rat or mouse, and then I can safely clean their tanks while they eat. Canaan was asleep when I put her mouse in her tank. I had to pick her up to wake her up, and then out her back down in her tank. It took her a while to full wake up and notice the mouse. She took longer than usual to kill the mouse, but I didn't think anything of it. I saw that she was smelling the mouse when it was alive but not biting. Eventually she bit it and it died. I waited for some time for her to start eating, and then when I went to go clean the tank but the mouse is still in the tank (dead). I go away for a bit to see if she'll eat it, but she still didn't eat it. But this is the weirdest part: she laid next to it the entire time and would use her nose to push on the mouse, then wait and look at it. It looked like she was trying to revive the mouse. I'm sure that wasn't what she was doing but she kept doing it and wouldn't leave the mouse. I wasn't going to take the dead mouse out because even though Canaan has never bit me, a snake will more than always bite if there is food nearby and when they're in hunting mode. I told my boss about what she did and he looked ats confused as I was. It was so weird. Maybe you guys have thlights, but regardless of whatever was going through Canaan's head it was out of her usual behavior. I know she's more tired since it's winter time, but again I've fed her through all seasons and I've never seen this. We'll see if the mouse is still in the tank next time I'm at work,
  7. A swamp wallaby found swimming more than a kilometer offshore swam to a small boat to be rescued by marine students. Did the animal realise it needed human help? Anyway, it reminds me of the closeness we will have with all animals in the future. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-09/wallaby-found-swimming-kilometre-from-nsw-coast-rescued/7014846
  8. This news article was published today in a Spanish newspaper: http://www.elmundo.es/espana/2015/02/09/54d91e22ca47411d3e8b4573.html The text is in Spanish, but anyway the nice thing about it is the picture of the bear cub. One guy living in a small town in the mountains was leaving his home and found a bear cub at the door. He says his first impulse was to stroke it, but then he thought its mother could be anywhere near and preferred to go back inside He was able to take a nice picture before it fled. Maybe spotting a bear is something common where you live, but it is extremely uncommon in Spain, where bears are all but disappeared, with very few specimens remaining. Long for the day when we can enjoy Jehovah's creation and animals and people are no longer a danger to each other.
