On your iPad mini go to JW.ORG and download epub magazines, if you download a PDF you will not be able to highlight or underline your answers. When your download finishes, it will ask you where to open the download hit "iBooks" , it will open automatically. I   my iPad mini, it very very user friendly too.

Okay, just when I got used to using the samsung galaxy note tablet, my husband got me this apple mini IPad, how do I download so as to do my study of the Wt. For tomorrow and will I be able to underline or highlight? help

Personally I would stick to the Samsung. The Note tablet ( which size ? ) is newer model than my galaxy tab 3 10.1"  Other than that if you want to use the ipod (td) then do as sis Missy stated.

A good rule of thumb when buying phones & tablets is -get same operating system -makes it easier, esp for buying apps -you only pay once - and more importantly - learning curve is smaller

Takes much less time to learn features of device when you don't have to learn new operating system too. ><img src=<'>

Here's an apple only app that will also assist you in your studying   ... http://equipd.me ...   many find it most beneficial.

And a one stop shop to unzip files, play video and sound files as well as view pdf documents etc all downloaded from jw.org. All for free. The first link tells you all about what it can do and the second link is where to get it. I miss these apps now I have moved to a Windows 8.1 tablet. (However I do have access to the full cd version of the Watchtower library as well as JW Library wherever I am. :))

For me, I prefer the flexibility of the android but am envious (in a righteous way lol) of the slightly bigger iPad mini screen.

There are larger android tablets than the 7" - 8", 9", 10.1"  then there is the ultimate tablet with a 20" screen and is really a tablet/laptop running full windows 8.1 - it is to sell for a measly $3500 or there about. :D

  • 3 weeks later...

I have the iPad and my husband has the iPad mini. I love mine for meetings and study, he is getting more into it. In fact, he had to use it to read a letter at the meeting Friday night cuz he couldn't get it to print...I was so impressed, forgot to take his picture!

Although ePub is nice for scripture look up really fast...I still need the personal touch. I use Notability for that. I have a section for magazines, another for mid-week meeting with the KM and school from Meekspace. Equipd is another app I use for study. I know in Notability it is PDF downloaded, but I like the underlining and highlighting my way and not the mechanical way. I can copy and past scriptures in or hand write them. When there is reference to other material I can import that, add to the article I am studying and replace pages so it follows the article. When I do my bible highlights, I do that on my laptop with the CD and Word, save it to Dropbox and open it on the iPad so I have it at the meeting. Notability is my most used app. I like to study my books in a different app that turns pages instead of scrolls like Notability. For that I use GoodNotes. I also use GoodNotes for my Assembly Notes as well. I import the Assembly Program and my notes follow. Tho Notability does have a microphone as well so you can record while taking notes, I usually use GoodNotes for taking notes.

I love my iPad for meetings. But, it's too big for service. Although I have all the videos on my iPad...even some not on the web site yet...it's just too big to carry in service. My bag is already too heavy. The mini would be perfect. But too expensive for me to buy one now, but, I found a Blackberry Playbook really cheap. I get it tomorrow in the mail. I am looking forward to learning a new tablet system. I wanted an Android but couldn't find one I could afford at this time. I am hoping to get the videos and study books for service. I read it was short on apps, which I don't care cuz I just want it for service.

My wife and I have LTE iPad Mini's and I use PDF Expert to organize, highlight, and notate PDF's from JW.org. I don't like the way the ePubs look. But that's just because I'm persnickety like that. My wife uses Evernote for taking notes. I just use the Notes app.  :D

I just use iPad in the ministry (and the invitations etc). If magazines my wife carries them. I couldn't carry much more myself or it would limit my time in service even more!

Meetings too, just the iPad. It was great yesterday - the speaker gave a talk about marriage and referred to an Awake article from 1983, so I was able to find the article using iSilo and follow when he quoted from it!

I bought the iPad mini for my wife to use in the ministry, she has a full-size one too, but it has rather taken over and she uses the mini for everything now.
