Same words used as a verb and noun...

Recommended Posts

For those who enjoy the glamour of grammar: I don't have a sentence, just a comment. When I hear 'impact'  used as a verb, it sounds like the word should be 'affect,' instead. Yes, both 'affect' and 'effect' can be used differently as either a noun or a verb, but the two most common ways are: Effect as a noun (as in cause, which ends in E and effect, which begins in E.) Affect is generally used as a verb. Example; The impact of the collision did not adversely affect anyone. "If I hear the word 'impactful,' I will try to maintain a flat affect rather than cringe visibly." ('affect' as a noun, used less frequently.) The impact does not impact me. :zipmouth:

I haven't heard the Buffalo sentence in quite a while.
