Runaway technology: benefits and dangers

Recommended Posts

Runaway technology is a product of this system's ever decreasing product cycles. In an effort to be the first out the gate with the new tech and gain market share, companies race to get half-baked products out to market. The goal is to advance technology as fast as possible to outrun the competition and keep customers coming back every two years or so when their current products become "obsolete." This is done simply for money, with no regard for the consequences - perfectly working products are often pitched into the landfills merely because it's not the latest and greatest.

In the consumer and office market, this concept has caused headaches, many of which we have personally experienced, making it difficult to keep track of who has what, who needs an upgrade, what has to be replaced now that it is no longer supported (even though it may only be two years old), and how to make everything work together.

The process is termed "runaway" because it is out of control.

From a capitalist point of view, the only "benefit" is shareholder value and profits. That's it.

For someone who desires what this system has to offer - the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one's means of life - the "benefit" would be having the latest gadget.

Thankfully, God's Kingdom will rid the earth of the commercial institutions that are destroying this planet and proper human desire. What Jehovah has in store for us will be exceedingly better, whatever it happens to be. We puny humans have no clue!

“It’s not how much we know that pleases Jehovah, but how we feel about what we know and how we have allowed that knowledge to increase our love for Jehovah.”
