George Aljian: Coping With the Plague of Your Heart

Recommended Posts

So... what relation is he to Ed Aljian of "An Important Reminder" fame?

Ed is his brother, I believe. They have been at bethel since the 70s.

🎵“I have listened to Jesus in these troublesome days,

He lights up my path.

As I hear and obey.”

I have this on MP3, Uani from when he originally gave it in 1995, if that is any help.  It is the same talk, just given in a congregation.  If you would like it just PM me and I'll pop it up on Google Drive for you. :)

Wow, just wow. We are truly seeing the benefits of JW Broadcasting with talks like these.

I especially appreciated the point about us sometimes not seeing that Jehovah is blessing us. The sister with the sickness that only heavy smokers get was a real encouragement. She did not believe Jehovah was listening to her, but he was, as she has all the medication she needed and had what she needed materially.

Really helped me to look for the ways in which Jehovah provides. Its not easy. We sometimes have to get out of our own ways and objectively assess our situation. But for a certainty we will see his hand.

Excellent, excellent talk!

I liked the reminder of how we can't be so caught up with *how* we want Jehovah to bless us, that we miss the mercies & blessings in front of us.

Question, tho- how does that reconcile with being specific in one's prayers? Jehovah will answer us as fitting, according to His will. Does it makes sense to simply ask for help to endure and leave the details to Him?

Thank you!!! This is wonderful!! I just finished printing it in booklet form to tuck into my large Bible for further reflection - Have listened to the talk twice yesterday and this just helps cement the words!  Your contribution with the written words for us to print is much appreciated!!

Another thought:

I struggle with knowing the boundary between being specific vs. allowing Jehovah's will to take place... between praying incessantly and knowing when to quit (at least about something in particular) like Paul had to do. His three times don't even sound like a lot of begging... but he was let know that the answer was "no" to that petition. It's been suggested that I'm lacking in faith because I've concluded that Jehovah's undeserved kindness must be enough rather than keep banging on about the same thing. I remain unclear on exactly how these concepts reconcile.

I had a request from a brother for this talk as an MP3 as he has to conserve his data, and as it is just a talk with no movies bits I converted it and put it on my Drive, so if anyone would like a copy just PM me with your email and I will add you. :)

Don't give up .. it's just around the corner.
