  1. For a little bit of history, the domain name www.jwtalk.net was registered on September 4th, 2006, which was 15 years ago this month. We started as a members only forum for local friends in local congregations using a freeware script called MyBB. Not before long, it lost it's initial traction. Then, a previous JW Forum was taken offline and so we made the effort to invite those abandoned forum refugees to join over here instead. We eventually switched to a freeware script called Phorum and couldn't migrate the MyBB database. Once Facebook became available to the public in general, activity in the Phorum suffered tremendously, and so we decided to abandon the referral-only approach and go Public, allowing search engines like Google to find us and index our content and promoting the forum in various JW Facebook groups. This worked out well, and membership in the JWTalk Online Community of Jehovah's Witnesses began to grow. As other JW Forums, MSN Email Lists, and Yahoo Groups, were discontinued, their members found their way here. Today, JWTalk.net is known to be the largest and busiest, and for many the one and only pro-JW community on the internet. We rigorously vet new member applications and work diligently to keep unqualified, apostate, and opposed individuals out and our boards clean of their harmful propaganda. With the help of our loving brothers and sisters here in the community, we've seen publishers dedicated themselves to Jehovah through water baptism. We've seen members who were struggling emotionally encouraged and strengthened by the Christian love they've received from brothers and sisters who may be on the opposite sides of the globe. We've seen members struggling spiritually grow and now they are the ones encouraging others by their fine comments. Many of us have travelled and met other members face to face and sat next to them at their Kingdom Halls. The community has been a blessing during the pandemic as we have been able to enjoy good association with one another any time of day. “Look! How good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity!” Psalm 133:1 Of course, none of this would work if it wasn't for your love for Jehovah and for your brothers and sisters. Let us continue to "have love for the whole association of brothers (and sisters!)" - 1 Peter 2:17 YOU are what makes this community wonderful, because YOU love Jehovah, YOU love your spiritual family (his organization), and YOU have his blessing.

  3. Much love for the friends that I've made here, especially those who have counseled and encouraged me over the years. It was a large influence in helping me progress to baptism, and learning how to deal with many of my personal issues. Thank you Bob and all of the moderators for your efforts to provide a safe format for these discussions. I will continue to look forward to the day that we may be able to associate without any of the current problems or worries. (Psalm 141:5) Should the righteous one strike me, it would be an act of loyal love; Should he reprove me, it would be like oil on my head, Which my head would never refuse. My prayer will continue even during their calamities. (Psalm 22:26) The meek will eat and be satisfied; Those seeking Jehovah will praise him. May you enjoy life forever.

  4. I remember years ago that a friend of mine had heard that Br. John Barr died. So I searched with google for verification of that news. That's how I found JWTalk. So since 2010 I have been a member of this Forum and enjoyed being here every day.

  7. I have lived in many places across Canada and have made friends and connections with many 100’s of brothers and sisters.. In contrast this site has allowed me to widen out and make good friends with brothers and sisters in every part of the world.. I really feel that I have a pulse on the world wide brotherhood. It is amazing that no matter what culture or background, we have the language of the truth to share. My spirituality and my love for my brothers has greatly increased by being here and that is good thing.

  10. So, my 22 year old granddaughter ( not a JW ) is a food server at a well known restaurant in a nearby town, I asked her if she was vaccinated, she said no, I asked her friend who also is a server, she said no, I then asked if they wore mask while serving, NO! Then people wonder why there's such a spread of covid!

  11. That's why Americans are dropping like flies over here. This morning, we heard that my son's job foreman died of covid after two weeks suffering in hospital. Fit, healthy, only 50, father of three teenage girls. Serious anti-vaxxer, though... He is someone my son and our WT conductor informal witnessed to quite a lot over the years. I guess they'll get another chance after the resurrection. His wife is getting vaccinated now.

  13. I joined in February of 2012 so nearly 10 years ago. This was a great decision. I've learned so much here, both spiritually and from all of you in different cultures. I cherish the friends I've made, they've helped round out my way of thinking, broadened my point of view. Love that. Thank you all 🧡

  20. To all the friends here that I've come to know on our wonderful site, I'm so very happy to have been given the opportunity and privilege of being able to have a part in keeping our community a warm, safe place for all of us. Many of you I'd never have known without jwtalk. You have contributed to my happiness, I hope the reverse is also true. Thank you all for your often beautiful and spiritual posts, your concern and friendship for other members, for myself and the team, and most of all, for the obvious love you all show for Jehovah and his organization. With your help and vigilance this community is what it is; a place of safety.

  29. The Sabbath law teaches us that we can’t work forever. We need to pause & reflect. • Focus on doing something refreshing to us. • Build our spirituality - by utilizing that time for theocratic activities like reading, studying & meditation, etc. • Not forgetting to care for the needs of others/ do good to others and find more joy in giving.

  30. Yep take your pick .. eventually all people will be vaccinated 1) by getting Covid 2) by taking the vaccinations

  31. This makes sense. The other 4 coronaviruses that circulate among humans probably wreaked havoc when they first emerged also. Now they just cause the sniffles. Every one of us inherit some immunity and on top of that is infected as a child when our immune systems are robust. Then when we encounter it again throughout life it's just a cold. There is a very good chance that'll happen with the coronavirus that causes Covid-19. Eventually it will not cause Covid-19 anymore. In the meantime, get vaccinated. It's proven safe and effective. Christians love vaccines.

  32. There is so much wrong with this thread I can't even begin to comment. I don't have that kind of time. One main point though is that the problem is with people not the tech. And 100 years from now the tech we have now will look shovels and pitchforks.

  34. Truly a prophecy that we've seen fulfilled in our lifetime. “But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time came for the dead to be judged and to reward your slaves the prophets and the holy ones and those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.”” Revelation 11:18 This ruining of the earth has never happened before the Lord's Day. How would you ruin the earth 120 years ago? Hit it with a shovel??

  36. Wed Sept 8 The sabbath law was set up to help the people to see that spiritual things must never be forgotten. If a person's focus is on work all the time and there is no time set aside for spiritual things, that would cause us to forget Jehovah, our grand maker.

  43. Thanks, but I am just an ardent observer. By observing quake reports for so long, I have begun to notice when little "anomalies" come along. So, nothing particularly special...just being observant of a subject I have always been fascinated with. I feel blessed to have someone who has studied viruses on board and I am so grateful that you have shared your expertise with the rest of us. 👍💜

  45. I've been in it too... and that's the problem, unlike the Wallstreet hours, Cryptos are ALWAYS open 24/7... this is a trap that eat your time like crazy because you want to buy the dip, hold, make it, etc. I got out of it. That wasn't good for me.

  46. Yes Indeed. I find that so important to always pause and reflect on spiritual things. I am a carpenter working for a building company and life is so busy where I live, there is always a rush to get things done to work overtime, leaving you tired and exhausted at the end of the day, causing you to draw away from the living God. The sabbath was a awesome instigation. Jehovah always instigates what is best for us humans.

  47. Sister Elnathan’s comment called to mind Bro Cauthon talk from the 144th gilead graduation, even though he wasn’t talking about the sabbath, I think it still applies. He said the festivals were to be a time to stop what they were doing, in other words pause and reset. He shared a beautiful video. I could watch that video over and over again. He said Jehovah has bejeweled our world with daily reminders of his goodness and power and his love., all we have to do is take the time to look.
