  1. I recently had someone steal the catalytic converter off of my '06 Honda Accord EX. It's a SULEV engine and C.A.R.B. certified for California emissions. That means that if the Honda dealers have the O.E.M. cat. in stock you must install that one and can't install an aftermarket cat. Two dealers that I called locally do have the cats. in stock and the Previous E.O. (Executive Order) earlier this year has been rescinded. The dealers charge $2,300.00 to $2,495.00 for the cat. not including a $150.00 core charge and any other piping, heat shields, O2 sensors, and labor. All tolled, the cost is over $3,000.00 and if you want any type of anti-theft provision installed that requires welding, you have to go to a muffler shop and pay at least another $150.00. Without that, there's a good chance the new cat. would be stolen again. I don't have comprehensive insurance on this car due to its age, so I have to pay out of pocket. The car only has 134,000 miles on it and I'm the original owner and have maintained it in good mechanical condition with no dents or oxidation on the body or paint. I'm still debating whether on not it's worth the expense and I'm leaning toward the thought that it is, because I don't think I could replace it with something comparable for $3,500.00, and I wouldn't want to. It's not a daily driver, so right now it's parked and I can't drive it as is. Decisions, decisions!
  2. Interesting thought. I was working in field service a few years ago with a brother in my service group who's single and 40ish, and he came out and told me he was "gay." He's active and in good standing in the congregation. Apparently, he feels that even though he doesn't act on any homosexual tendencies or desires, or is non-practicing as I put it, he's still "gay" or homosexual.
  3. My wife and I both got our Moderna booster vaccinations yesterday. Arms are sore as usual, but no other side effects. We also got the flu vaccine a couple weeks ago. We feel we're doing all we can to stay safe.
  4. I wonder if this applies to brothers and sisters with homosexual tendencies or who claim outright to be non-practicing gay or lesbian Christians?
  5. I worked for a school district here in California, and I can confirm that cursive writing isn't taught to students in elementary school, as it used to be. The curriculum only includes the printed alphabet and printed word. I never saw one high school student who wrote in cursive letters. All of them printed every written assignment, without exception. Not only that, I estimate that 99% of them didn't know how to hold a pencil or pen correctly for cursive writing. I don't know the reason for this, but I was shocked when I first saw this and viewed it as one more piece of evidence that the public school system in general, has simplified (euphemism for dumbed down) the education of today's children to their detriment. I think this is one of the reasons a high school diploma isn't worth as much as it used to be, in the eyes of potential employers. Sad but true.
  6. I went grocery shopping this morning and I was a little shocked at how many people were not wearing masks. There was a young couple with two small children, who were standing right beside me, and none of them were wearing a mask. At least half of the customers were not wearing masks, and the checkers/cashiers along with the box girls/boys were not wearing masks. I felt like some were looking at me as if I were a hypochondriac, but as you said, it's such a simple (but life-saving!)thing to do that shows our faithfulness and obedience to wise direction.
  7. @ 1gemstone: If you like Steve Lukather's singing on this song, check out my post #458 of him, when older, singing a Beatles' classic song. His guitar playing isn't too shabby either!
  8. "Our ability should never exceed our humility." "Humility is an elusive quality that has to be constantly and continually cultivated. Once you think you have it, you've lost it!"
  9. Ah yes! I remember it well. I was baptized that summer at the district convention held at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, California. Over 3,000 were baptized that day!
