How I Found the Truth

  • How I found the Truth
I learned the truth from someone who wasn't a Witness at the time. I was moving, so I loaded my last carload and drove over to a workmate's house to tell her goodbye. Eventually she began to tell me a story that went in one ear and out the other. Something caught my attention though and I made her tell me all over again. I left her house with a Truth book and shortly went to the same kingdom hall I'm still in to ask for a study. A friend from high school was there and she became my spiritual mama!. My workmate and I were baptized together.....(her mother was a sister.) Oh, and I was on vacation from work at the time I was moving. When I returned back to work my attitude had flipped so drastically that someone told me "you left for vacation one person and you came back another person!". Yes. Now I was HAPPY! Also, the boyfriend I had at the time told me the girlfriend he had before me also left him to become one of Jehovah's witnesses, haha. That still makes me smile!

My Hobbies & Interests

  • My Interests
My little grandbabies. Now that I'm babysitting them I have neither the time nor the energy for extras other than meetings, study, and service.
  • My favorite books
Currently, besides the Bible and our publications, I'm seeing the wisdom of Eccliastes 12:12. I have way too many books and I'm torn between donating them and trying to sell them. Either way they have got to go!
  • My favorite music
Honestly I'm so out of touch. Muscrat Love came out along with some equally annoying songs, and with the demise of the only two fm stations that played late 60's and early 70's rock with no "bubble gum" I somehow got stuck in that era. Thankfully it doesn't work that way with our Kingdom songs!
  • My favorite quotes
    Don't believe everything you think.
    And:
If you think you can or if you think you can't, you're right. ( As you can see, I think I can't. Every time I try to contribute to a discussion, I chicken out.)

  1. Kinda confused here. Wasn't the huge audio and video update to JWLibrary so that all those files would download to our (in my case iPad) and we wouldn't stream anymore?? So why is it that when I turn off wifi and try to play audio it doesn't play unless I use cellular? Hmmmm?
  2. Book bag. Not literature bag. I was having a brain freeze. Guess I got off topic a little, but I think the part about reaching out to the person with literature if their dog is with them could apply to cart witnessing....
  3. I can't even make a guess how many times over the years I've been bitten by dogs. Dozens, at least. That was as a mail carrier what seems like a lifetime ago now. We were told to always face the dog keeping our satchel between us and the dog. Handing someone their mail while their dog was present was risky. Got several bites on my hand that way. The only bite that required stitches was from a dog let out by kids as I was walking away. I never saw it coming. And that is why I always bring my literature bag with me even in the invitation work. . But to this day I'm still overly cautious.
  4. It's not that hard to tell an alligator from a crocodile. One will see you later, one will see you after awhile.
  5. When Adam selfishly disobeyed Jehovah, he passed that selfishness on to us. We naturally have that struggle....
  6. We measured my daughter's belly ahead of time and everybody guessed her measurement. Lots of laughs because she wasn't as big as most thought. This is one that may not fly with every expectant mom though... Especially if brothers are invited.
  7. I really love Psalm 27:13 Where would I be if I did not have faith that I would see Jehovah's goodness in the land of the living?
  8. Me too. But lately I've been sensing that it's possible we may be moving in with each other. I'd have one or two available rooms to share. That is if I could give up stuff. So with that thought in mind it's been easier and easier to unload some of my unessentials. Not a possibility for everyone though.....
  9. Thanks. Or maybe I'll try 5-4-5 or 4-5-5. We're yours easy to peel Elizabeth?
  10. I think you're right Elizabeth. I should get out my manual and see if mine will do half minutes 😊
  11. I've never experienced such easy to peel hard boiled eggs until my instant pot. You can Google the 5-5-5 method. If I only made hard boiled eggs, those alone would be worth the price of the pot.
  12. Thank you brother Manfred! I will no longer fret over whether to get a new laptop!
