  1. Has such low O2 levels and low pulse rate been normal all your life? Or is it due to some illness.
  2. Could this be due to a persons oxygen levels dropping below normal without even being short of breath? That could be why every household in Singapore was given an oximeter to make sure our oxygen levels do not drop below 95%.
  3. Expert explains why a combination of Covid-19 vaccines and a mild infection can be so powerful Getting infected alone does not give the same level of protection as a combination of vaccine and infection, said Prof Ooi. This is because an infection can turn off some of the body's signals. A vaccine offsets this. Together, they provide both breath and depth against future variants. There is no way to guarantee that someone who gets infected suffers only a mild illness, rather than a severe one that could end in death. But Prof Ooi said: "What is happening now is exactly what is needed to become more resilient in safeguarding against new variants. "That the Delta variant is now spreading in Singapore, but not to the level that results in a large number of severe cases, will serve to produce more robust immunity in our population. I think we should stay the course and not go back to heightened alert or even circuit breaker."
  4. I noticed that too. Good for keeping the head upright when using the tablet. Prevents neck strain.
  5. We just had an announcement at our CLMM that the Johnson and Johnson and SinoPharm vaccines do not contain blood or blood fractions.
  6. This article shows there is a good reason the ewe mother rejected the bummer lamb. What Are Bummer Lambs? Bummer lambs are those that have either been rejected or couldn’t be fed by their ewe mothers. The ewe may have died, failed to produce enough milk or suffered from mastitis. Unable to be paired with new ewes willing to nurse them, bummer lambs are bottle-fed and raised by humans from birth. This creates a lot of work for time-pressed farmers with larger flocks and acreage to tend to, and many are glad to sell off bummer lambs as quickly as possible. Before we get too far down the new lamb path, there’s a sad fact to get out of the way. Bummer lambs will steal your heart, and despite our best efforts, they don’t always make it. Bummer lambs are often weak and, sometimes, mother knows best: When a ewe ignores or rejects a lamb, she may do so because it has a problem that will prevent it from thriving. Lambs can have birth defects that are impossible to see until they get a bit older, and sheep are notoriously tough. Often, sheep do not show any symptoms of a problem until it is too late to deal with it. If this happens, do not blame either the flock owner who sold you the bummer lamb or yourself. Keep in mind, sheep are not solitary animals and need to be part of a flock. You shouldn’t buy a single bummer lamb unless you already have other sheep with which it can bond and learn from.
  7. US panel backs COVID-19 boosters only for seniors, high-risk In a surprising turn, the advisory panel rejected, 16-2, boosters for almost everyone. Members cited a lack of safety data on extra doses and also raised doubts about the value of mass boosters, rather than ones targeted to specific groups. Then, in an 18-0 vote, it endorsed extra shots for people 65 and older and those at risk of serious disease. Panel members also agreed that health workers and others who run a high risk of being exposed to the virus on the job should get boosters, too.
  8. This talk on seeing the big picture reminds me of a comment my 87 year old mother-in-law made. She is happy her mother knocked her on the head whenever she slackened in her Chinese studies. She was very irritated by that punishment in her youth. Looking at the big picture: She is now hard of hearing and is now grateful of her mothers punishment which forced her to learn Chinese. By being able to read Chinese so well she can read newspapers, TV subtitles, YouTube subtitles, etc. Her children can also communicate with her using whatsapp text.
  9. This article explains why vaccines lose protection over infection over time. Its because the antibodies reduce over time. T-Cells can manufacture new antibodies but it takes time. Since the Delta variant has a shorter incubation period we will get sick before antibodies can be produced. Getting a mild infection after Covid-19 vaccination gives best protection against future variants: Expert "The immune system does not sustain antibodies at a high level when it doesn't need it," he said, but the memory of how to make those antibodies remains. "When you see the virus again, it will recall this memory and it will mount an immune response. But that memory recall takes a few days. And so it becomes a race between the immune system and Delta." So far, data shows that more people infected by the Delta variant get sick compared with earlier variants of the virus. Prof Ooi said this is because of the shorter incubation period - the point from infection to disease - of three days for Delta against five days for the original strain. The immune system, however, takes about four or five days to mount a response.
