  1. Thanks brothers and sisters for your concerns. Looking at jw.org, there is 1 congregation and 1 group in the capital city of the province where the earthquake occured. I live in Jakarta - some 2,000 kms away from the epicenter. Got messages from a few Japanese brothers asking about my condition.
  2. In one of the interviews, Guy McPherson stated he doesn’t like vegans and JWs. I forgot his reasons but I reckon he doesn’t like our message that instead of human extinction that he has been espousing, we are proclaiming real hope for mankind by means of God’s Kingdom.
  3. Brother James, many thanks for the links. Only recently did I closely study climate change and was surprised with the gravity of the current predicament. Can you please provide the links on the possibility of blue ocean event in the arctic by sep 2019-20. As research shows positive correlation between global warming and increased conflicts, notably in less developed countries, I think the P&S is inextricably linked with the climate change’s development.
  4. Mendocino Complex fire now largest in California history, scorching more than 283,000 acres http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-california-wildfires-danger-level-20180806-story.html The Mendocino Complex fire is now the largest wildfire in modern California history, scorching more than 283,000 acres and frustrating firefighters as it continues to leap across natural and man-made barriers in Lake County. The Ranch and River fires, which make up the complex fire, had grown to 283,800 acres as of Monday evening, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The blaze was only 30% contained. The blaze surpassed the Thomas fire, which burned through more than 281,000 acres in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties late last year.
  5. Interesting, I would like to know your reasoning. Is there a thread on this site discussing this?
  6. Stunning biblical 'spies' mosaic discovered in Israel http://www.foxnews.com/science/2018/07/12/stunning-biblical-spies-mosaic-discovered-in-israel.amp.html Researchers have uncovered a stunning mosaic depicting a biblical scene at the site of an ancient synagogue in Northern Israel. The mosaic, which is the latest to be discovered at the fifth-century synagogue in Huqoq, depicts a scene from Numbers 13:23. Labeled "a pole between two," the panel shows two spies sent by Moses to explore the biblical land of Canaan. The spies are shown carrying a pole with a cluster of grapes, which they took to Moses as evidence of Canaan’s abundance. Another recently discovered panel, which references Isaiah 11:6, includes the inscription "a small child shall lead them," and depicts a youth leading an animal on a rope.
  7. https://nypost.com/2018/06/26/scientists-say-humans-are-alone-in-the-universe/amp/ Humans are alone in the universe and will never meet other intelligent life forms, according to a cosmically depressing new study. Scientists at Oxford University have determined that aliens don’t exist in a report that says human beings are likely flying solo in outer space.
  8. Many thanks for this brother James. Do you the original creation video segment with the vocals and music? Thanks
  9. North and South Korean leaders hold surprise meeting https://edition.cnn.com/2018/05/26/politics/north-and-south-korean-leaders-meet-again/index.html The leaders of North and South Korea met Saturday for a second time, South Korea's presidency announced. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in held a surprise meeting at the Demilitarized Zone, the South Korean presidency said in a statement. The two leaders "exchanged their opinions" on among other things successfully carrying out a future US-North Korea summit, according to the statement. President Donald Trump canceled a June 12 summit with Kim this week, then told reporters Friday he's still open to a meeting.
  10. Trump says North Korea summit talks continue: 'Could even be the 12th' https://edition.cnn.com/2018/05/25/politics/trump-north-korea-canceled-summit-reaction/index.html President Donald Trump told reporters Friday he remains open to holding a summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un on June 12. The President said lines of communication had opened between the two countries after officials said Thursday that the North Koreans had become unresponsive, leading to the planned summit's cancellation. "We'll see what happens. It could even be the 12th. We're talking to them now," he said. "They very much want to do it. We'd like to do it." Asked whether the North Koreans were playing games, Trump acknowledged they were -- and suggested he was too. "Everybody plays games. You know that," he told reporters when asked about the ongoing talks. "You know that better than anybody."
  11. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/05/24/politics/trump-north-korea/index.html President Donald Trump will not meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un next month, he announced in a letter to Kim released by the White House Thursday morning, scrapping plans for what would have been a historic diplomatic summit. "I was very much looking forward to being there with you. Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting," Trump wrote. "Therefore, please let this letter serve to represent that the Singapore summit, for the good of both parties, but to the detriment of the world, will not take place."
  12. Seoul eyes '99.9% chance of Kim-Trump meeting taking place as planned' http://m.koreatimes.co.kr/pages/article.asp?newsIdx=249377 President Moon Jae-in arrived in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump today about North Korea's denuclearization. His visit comes almost three weeks before Trump's planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore, June 12, following Moon's April 27 summit with Kim. "In usual summits, working- and high-level officials make almost all agreements in advance; but there is no pre-set scenario for this meeting, and Moon and Trump will exchange their ideas spontaneously," Moon's security chief Chung Eui-yong told reporters on a plane bound for the U.S. capital. Despite North Korea's recent protests, Chung said the chances of the North cancelling the Trump-Kim summit is almost zero, showing a positive expectation. Asked about the chance of the Trump-Kim summit being held amid North Korea's protests, Chung said, "We see a 99.9 percent of chance of it happening."
  13. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/world-latin-america-44169484 All of Chile's 34 Roman Catholic bishops have offered Pope Francis their resignations in the wake of a child sex scandal and cover-up. They asked forgiveness from victims and the Church for their "grave errors and omissions". It was not immediately clear whether the Pope had accepted the resignations. He had been criticised in Chile for his decision to ordain a bishop who is accused of covering up sexual abuse committed by a priest. It is the first time that all the top churchmen in a country have offered to leave their posts like this.
  14. It remains to be seen how fast the nuclear agreement with North Korea can be reached. In comparison, Iran’s nuclear deal negotiation took 9 years.
  15. http://m.koreatimes.co.kr/phone/news/view.jsp?req_newsidx=248871 Moves to denuclearize North Korea are expected to proceed speedily this time, due to a determination by the leaders of the two Koreas and the United States to achieve that goal, a ranking South Korean government official said Friday. The official told Korean reporters here that the dismantling of North Korea's nuclear weapons program will likely proceed at a speed far faster than under any other similar nuclear accords of the past. "Implementation of a (denuclearization) agreement is expected to proceed swiftly if the leaders are committed to the deal," the official said. Regarding the upcoming North Korea-U.S. summit talks, the official said, "The goal is complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement. How to reach the destination will depend on an agreement between the North Korean and U.S. leaders."
