  1. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_official_languages According to this list there are 209 official languages of Sovereign countries and 147 regional or minor official languages (and there is quite a bit of overlap in the two lists). Even not accounting for overlap that gives a total of 356, which puts the 991 figure into perspective. It is no wonder people seeing our literature are amazed as they will likely have seen little or nothing in print in their language before. I think it's safe to say that 99.9% of the population speak a language we have literature for (though possibly not their first language). The translation currently taking place is truly a modern day miracle.
  2. Yes. That is the standard 1984 version with cross references. I was looking for the version with references, the one with the brown cover. I have a copy on JW Library and a paper copy But was hoping to get a pdf version.
  3. Hi. I was wondering whether anyone had a pdf copy of the reference Bible?
  4. Single, meaning one. “worker placement” is a game mechanic. Popular game mechanics used in various ways are bidding, auction, roll and move, area control etc.
  5. I can't think of a single worker placement game played with a deck of cards. A super simple worker placement game that is probably the cheapest worker placement I know is probably Carcassone. A little bit more expensive but far more sophisticated is Stone Age. Keyflower takes it to a whole new level but is likely too complex for someone new to boardgames. For all here I would say if you can find someone in your congregation or circuit who is into boardgames then maybe invite them round and ask them to bring a few games. Just as an aside, I have a game called Tortuga (not the one previously mentioned in this thread) which is a really nice social deduction game, well worth playing.
  6. Europe is widely regarded as the best Ticket to Ride map, so that would be a good choice.
  7. Some Bible themed board games I can recommend: Settlers of Canaan. A rebadged version of Settlers of Catan. Flavour text on cards is Biblically accurate. Kingdom of Solomon. A worker placement game that also involves resource management. Highly recommended. Kings of Israel. A cooperative game where each player is a prophet attempting to cleanse sin from the ten tribe kingdom of Israel. Each turn covers the reign of a king. Similar game mechanics to Pandemic. My favourite non Biblical board game is Keyflower.
  8. Possibly. 51 languages were added in the last service year.
  9. The film is based on a book. It is not positive toward witnesses in any way. The page below gives a synopsis. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Children_Act_(novel)
  10. Comfy and roomy seats, but no video feed in forum live - in fact even the FM feed doesn’t reach that far.
  11. Does anyone have a download link for WTLIB 2016? I need one for a windows tablet.
  12. The w00 10/15 p31 Questions From Readers is worth looking at. Some salient points: The mosaic law stipulation on pouring out blood always referred to the blood of another creature, not our own. The article italicised the same words. We do not predonate our blood for later transfusion, but regarding all other matters the article stated "A Christian must decide for himself how his own blood will be handled in the course of a surgical procedure, medical test, or current therapy." The Slave have given us tremendous latitude when it comes to autologous procedures.
  13. If someone is looking for a cheaper but fast tablet then I can cautiously recommend the Teclast P80 Pro From Gearbest. It has an 8” screen, and very good benchmarks for the price (about 68,000 on Antutu). It also boots into both Android and Windows, so you can use Watchtower library. The downside is that battery life is poor - only 3 to 5 hours depending on use. Fine for the meeting if it’s fully charged at the start though. For the next day or two it’s only £65 (less than $100).
