  1. Hello everyone, I'm new to this community and so I'm not sure this is the right forum to bring this up. I'm responsible for the hybrid meetings coordination (media, audio, zoom, etc.) and so I have a keen interest to make each meeting go smooth with as little interruptions as possible. Occasionally it occurs that when we share video over zoom, the JW library app drops connection with the second screen, which is connected to our TV monitors in the hall. When that happens to only remedy is to restart the JW library app. I haven't figured out yet how this can happen. Is this a known bug or feature in JW library app? Is it due to memory limitations of the sharing PC (which in our case is a laptop with 8GB of memory)? Could it be related to a bad internet connection of the zoom host? I'm looking for advice on how I can best prevent this from happening. Thanks so much for your help. Your brother, --Paul
  2. Dear friends, We use a high-quality HD video security camera to capture the stage speakers in our congregation. However, if we compare the image quality of the recorded HD video with that of what 'zoom' makes of it, it seems to have lost quite some resolution. Sometimes, it even looks like SD-quality video. Now, it's likely that zoom "transcodes' and compresses the incoming video to guarantee smooth thumbnail playback. That said though we certainly would like zoom to keep the quality of the stage recording (which is spotlighted the whole meeting). We checked all video settings to maintain HD-quality video. Does anyone have an idea on how to maintain best video quality without loss of resolution? Thanks, --Paul
  3. I was looking on GitHub to see if there was anything I could find to make things easier Hosting on Zoom. I then found this program called, JW Meeting Media Fetcher. This is a simple app that facilitates the downloading of media that will be considered during congregation meetings, to be used for example during personal study, to share using Zoom, or when using JW Library is not possible or feasible for various reasons. It's a very nice app. It can run on Windows, Linux, or Mac. https://github.com/sircharlo/jw-meeting-media-fetcher It's also interesting, it says using the Zoom MP4 sharing feature results in better quality for the meeting participants than simply sharing your local monitor or your media playback app's window through Zoom's screen sharing feature. So I think I'll try this sharing method at tomorrows meeting.
  4. Ok, so we have monitors up front ran through Cat6 HDMI extender then a splitter to mirror the two screens towards the auditorium and the one pointed at speaker. Since we started using zoom at the hall and screen sharing we have gotten flickering on those monitors. Video and pictures come across perfect on zoom, but intermittent flickering on hall screens. it is way worse when Scree Sharing, but it still does it occasionally when not sharing. We Share Screen of monitor, not from the JW app. Has anyone had this issue or an idea of any software interference? We use PreSonus StudioLive RM16AI for mixer, and Custom AMD Ryzen 7 2700 PC 8 Core 4.1GHz Max Boost GTX1660Ti w/6GB, 250GB SSD, 2TB HDD, 16GB DDR4 RAM, Win 10 J W app for media, and OnlyM for talk media when needed. Zoom and OnlyT for the timer. KHconf is also running for those who can't get on zoom. We had to get a Faster Computer than most Halls because it supports audio mixing as well as our media. Any help would be greatly appreciated
  5. Hello everyone. I am looking for Bible one liner jokes or interesting topics to start up a conversation in service. Sometimes people leave our service group because no one talks and I want something interesting everytime I go I service. Thank you in advance for your suggestions :)
  6. Hi all, maybe someone could tell what determines Zoom audio quality while sharing video/audio? For example, when I or mostly everyone I've heard shares audio, it's going through a hard limiter (that could be solved turning down shared app's volume, for example, JW Library's) and it's very compressed and noise-reduced although that's not what it needs while sharing audio... But I've heard someone's shared audio with really good quality, not compressed and not limited audio. Does it depend on audio card? How shared audio quality can be improved?
  7. Discord, more known to be mainly for group voice chat, now added group video to their group chats. Not only is it free but you can - open servers with multiple text and voice channels(now with vid), - adjust everyone's individual volume, - mute anyone you like without being a admin The only downsides I can see is that it has a slightly higher learning-curve, the quality of video and voice needs more adjustments. It doesn't filter out noise as well.
  8. Here is a brief tutorial to help friends use Zoom for the meetings during this difficult time.
  9. Here in the Dominican Republic, many publishers and studies with limited means, have only landline home phones or NON smart phones and NO internet. So we have enabled the option in Zoom for them to call into the meeting. They call in and connect fine to the meetings but at the cost of their limited minutes per month for their landline or NON smart phone plans. For example, if they have a monthly plan with only 100 minutes, a 1 hour and 30 minute meeting will use up 90 minutes of their monthly plan. Our BOE asked me to look into adding the Zoom add-on option called "Audio Conferencing" with Toll-Free call-in option as you see in the attached images. What do you all think? $100 a month is a bit much. But the need is for about 30 publishers. Plus it seems that there could be extra charges based on minutes used? I was searching to see if there was other options but it seems like we are limited. The Dominican Republic branch does not have KHCONF as an option.
