Strange Noise at the KH

Recommended Posts

Yesterday morning I was at the hall setting up for Pioneer School and I was a hearing a strange noise and I follow the noise into the kitchen. The noise sound like this noise from the movie Contact http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vFwTJ44lFw.

Into 57 seconds in this video you will hear the exact same noise I was hearing but  in lower tone.. Believe it or not the noise came from the coffee pot. Who knows I might had my first alien contact. And this morning I said to the coffee pot "Prime Numbers" because in the movie the aliens was sending the message or noise in prime numbers. :)

Unplug it .... Time for a new one

Zeph 3:17 Jehovah your God is in the midst of you. As a mighty One, he will save. He will exult over you with rejoicing. He will become silent in his love. He will be joyful over you with happy cries....... Love it....a beautiful word picture.

We have a kitchen too and we're hosting the pioneer school right now. But it really only consists of a sink, a microwave, a coffee pot, a refrigerator and a countertop. No stove / oven.

Only? LOL...

We have a fitted kitchen with refrigerator, gas cooker and two sinks, 1 for food prep and 1 for washing up. Work tops and cupboards too.

We host pioneer school and also have the convention office for the District Convention, until they move into the stadium. We also host pioneer meetings for the circuit and elders schools etc.

We have a kitchenette in our library/elders room. I used to love the sound of a peculator coffee pot with the glass bubble top, but I haven't see one in years. Sometimes nice things are lost to progress.

We had some strange noises at our KH but they were coming from the last row where the elderly sit. :o

The Hall I used to attend had a kitchenette of sorts, There is a Fridge, microwave and several hot plates as well as cabinets with serving supplies. It is a small rural Hall and there is not really any good place to show hospitality to visiting speakers so it is done at the Hall.

The Hall I am in now has a small fridge, coffee pot, and microwave ... also a rural Hall.

Yes we have the same - We call it Crinkly Corner. The noises are when one old dear gets out her cough sweeties and passes them around or to whoever among them is coughing and the sweety papers start rustling, or one deaf one loudly asks her neighbour what the scripture was that the brother just asked us to look at! Ex-District Overseer Bro Dennis Green often comes to give talks and knows our congregation well, so when he gives the scripture he also says "and for the sake of Sister "..." then loudly and slowly gives the scripture again and gets a 'thumbs up' from the back!

Helen that describes me and Grumpy at the meeting. He carries cough drops in his pocket for his dry throat and sometimes mine. He is deaf as a doorknob and will whisper to me, What did he say, I wish they'd turn the sound up. Or what was that scripture? When I answer him, he says huh, and I need to whisper louder so he can hear me. My sister says the 3 rows in front of us can hear our conversation. Neither one of us knows how to whisper quietly. Getting older is really the pits.

The posts about having/not having  kitchen facilities  made me smile .  .   .  Maybe 25 years ago a sister brought her coffee into the KH for the field service meeting.  The conducting brother noticed  -  and made her take it outside !  The KH is not the place for food or beverage!  AH, the good old days .   .    . :tsk:
