A cool trick with hot water at -40C

These were a couple of news items that were broadcast in 2010. Amazing!

In Omyakon the average January temperature is -46C and frostbite is a constant hazard but the region is rich in gold and diamonds - and Russia is now one of the world's leading diamond producers.

Adam Mynott looks at some of the challenges faced by those living there - and finds out what happens to a cup of hot water when thrown in the air at -40C.

In Siberia, the winter temperature can drop to -60C, making it one of the coldest places to live in the world.

This makes me think of our dear brothers and sisters who were sent to this inhospitable place to labour for years. Helps me appreciate what they went through. What they endured because they stood up for Jehovah's name and upheld his sovereignty is truly laudable.
