Once in a chemistry class, a very good friend of mine, Carol, was late for class.  She had to sit on the front row of desks because all the rest of the seating was taken.  The professor was quizzing the class by shouting out questions.  If no one answered he followed up with a hint.  He shouted out the chemical compound for  (it's been over thrity years folks since this happened) aluminum chloride and no one said anything.  Then his hint was "You use it to make your dough rise" and Carol all excited screamed "Yeast"--everyone looked quizzically at her because what the professor  actually said was "You use it to deodorazie".  I just now remembered that after all these years.  Don't ask me what I had for breakfast this morning but I do remember that useless piece of trivia.

Leslie your story reminds me of a dude named Patrick, we were studying enantiomers...... he called them enchantimers...... everyone razzed him, but I thought it was kind of cute and it also helped me to recall what they were on an exam!
