It looks like that last days hard to deal with become more critical ...  this period of the last days is full of atrocities commited in the name of religion:

Islamic terrorists Boko Haram massacre civilians while describing them as infidels in horrific video
  • Footage shows terrorists shooting civilians laying face down on floor
  • There are so many corpses the gunmen have difficulty stepping over them
  • Thousands of people have been killed in the five-year insurgency

It could be that as these radical Islamic terrorists become more extreme in

their methods and violence, governments and the people will start demanding

that these groups need to be taken down and will permit it "by any means necessary".

This could then cause the idea to arise that it is the Islamic "religion" and all religion that is at the root

of the problem and so religion should be destroyed.

"Create in me a pure heart, O God, And put within me a new spirit, a steadfast one" (PS 51:10)

Yep ! that's what I was thinking too..  imagine proclamation from UN that in order to achive "Peace and Security" we must eleminate religion (for obvious reasons)

Well, though many people see "all religion" as a cause for mankind's woes, I think that around 90% of atheistic people do consider most religions benign (albeit stupid) EXCEPT for islam. Even prominent atheists such as Richard Dawkins scoff at the idea of "all religions" being a danger to peace and security and hate to see a religion like Christianity put on the same level as islam.

So I do not believe this is it quite yet, but that we are at the starting point.

I personally believe the first step will be a move towards the destruction of islam. This will, in turn, cause violent acts from muslim "extremists" (which are said to make up 15%-20% of the 1.5 billion strong muslim population worldwide) against other religions, prominently in Jerusalem and the West and melting-pots like Syria, Nigeria. Picture what we have now and multiply by factor three up to ten. In turn, the violence against muslims, obviously, will also increase, particularly in countries like the UK, France and Russia. Possibly even in Germany!

In a few years, a decade max, we will have a viable basis for a global, UN-backed ban on all religions.

Just my five cents.

What will signal the start of the great tribulation? Jesus foretold: “When you catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, as spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place, (let the reader use discernment,) then let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains.” (Matt. 24:15, 16) In the first fulfillment, the “standing in a holy place” occurred in 66 C.E. when the Roman army (“the disgusting thing”) attacked Jerusalem and its temple (a place holy in the eyes of the Jews). In the larger fulfillment, the “standing” will occur when the United Nations (the modern-day “disgusting thing”) attacks Christendom (which is holy in the eyes of nominal Christians) and the rest of Babylon the Great. The same attack is described at Revelation 17:16-18. That event will be the beginning of the great tribulation.

Which means that no matter how bad things seem leading up to the destruction of false religion, the worst is yet to come......

Be interesting to see how what's going on inside the Vatican right now plays into all of this, if at all.  There is definitely problems between the pope and the rest of the Vatican administration and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Don't live for the moment - live for the future! :D
