I figure we hear enough BAD news how about some good news

And from FOX no less  :lol1:

HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

Speculation about Nevada's first Chick-Fil-A location coming to Henderson seemed to become more fact Wednesday.

Last month, Eater.com published a story about the popular Atlanta-based chicken restaurant, reporting the chain planned to open a location on Stephanie Street, near the intersection with Warm Springs Road.

At that time, a company spokeswoman said she could not confirm the information in the story.

However, on Wednesday, the Henderson Planning Commission posted the agenda for its June 11 meeting. Item No. 11 on the agenda is the review of a permit for a restaurant with drive-through service. The applicant is listed as Chick-Fil-A, and the address is listed as 460 N. Stephanie St.

The address corresponds with what was originally a bank branch, and was most recently occupied by Cox Communications, across the street from the new Outback Steakhouse location.

By no means does the review of a permit solidify the opening of a location, but it is the first step of any business with plans to open a new store in the city.

A spokeswoman for Chick-Fil-A said the company is still not ready to confirm the Henderson location.

"We would very much like to serve the communities of Las Vegas, and while we are actively seeking the first few sites in Nevada, we have no locations to confirm just yet," the company said in a statement.

Chick-Fil-A is one of the few national fast-food chains that does not have a location in Las Vegas. The closest one is in St. George, UT, - about 120 miles northeast of the city.

From now on - I am going to try and post at least one "Good News" story every day!!! I can use your help. If you see a fun or good news story - please post it. We see enough garbage!

It could be that, one of the reasons there have not been any Chick-Fil-A stores in Las Vegas, is due to the cost of land.

Chick-Fil-A is a "cash" business and they do NOT borrow money to build, operate or expand - they have been that way since day one.

It is something Samuel Truett Cathy (the founder of of Chick-Fil-A) felt strongly about and opened his first location "out of pocket" - they have continued to operate that way ever since.

We had them a long time ago then they went out of business here, now they are back. My husband and I went to the grand opening (staying 24 hours) in January this year....and we have been using the year free food a LOT! lol It was worth it. Not as good as Freebirds grand opening. (their year of free food you can use for longer then a year, and is much easier and better food-more food, etc. But, it's been saving us a ton of money. I'd do it again.

Also freebirds let us stay in our car to sleep at night, and it was only like 40 or so degrees out. (also in january the year before). But, it was 25 below zero during the chick fil a thing, and they made us stay in our tents, but they did let us go to the bathroom, so we would do that to get a little warm. at 25 below my tent heater just couldn't keep up! It did great during the day when it was only like 5 below, but once night came and it went to 25 below it was just plain cold in our tent.

Has anyone tried the chicken from PDQ - they claim "freshness" as their selling point.

Jerry, they are planning one in Las Vegas (3010 W. Sahara Ave)

I love Chik Fil A!  We've got them here locally, but none where my mom lives.

I don't care for chicken so I've never been there even though we have one in the next town over.  I know that chain is owned by Mormons, so did it start in Utah?

"Welcome to Henderson" is the official, written stamp of approval for Chick-fil-A issued by the City of Henderson Community Development Department. Scheduled for a June 11 Planning Commission meeting final vote, Chick-fil-A has already complied with a round of changes by the City and in some cases exceeded their requests.
