It’s Possible to Actually Sweat Blood, a New Study Says

According to a case study published Monday in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, a 21-year-old Italian woman checked into a medical ward complaining of a strange—and horrifying—symptom: She had been bleeding intermittently from her face and palms for three years, seemingly without cause. She had no visible broken skin, and bleeding episodes sometimes began without warning, though they often intensified during times of stress.

Bloody sweat has reportedly occurred in certain cases of extreme mental stress. In hematidrosis, for example, there is an excreting of perspiration tinged with blood or blood pigment or of bodily fluid mingled with blood. It cannot be stated with certainty, however, just what took place in Jesus’ case.

Jesus was under great emotional stress in the garden of Gethsemane and it was during agonized praying that this unusual occurrence took place. Luke 22:44 states (NW): “Getting into an agony he continued praying more earnestly; and his sweat became as drops of blood falling to the ground.” It does not say that his sweat became literal blood, but only “as drops of blood”. Under the heading “Gethsemane—Watching and Praying”, the February 15, 1901, Watchtower stated: “Luke, who was a physician, says that he [Christ] was ‘in an agony’, a contest, a struggle, the language used in the Greek implying a struggle of increasing force and severity, so that ‘his sweat became as it were great drops of blood;’ and this bloody sweat is not unknown to physicians today, altho very rare. It marks an extreme tension of feeling—sorrow nigh unto death.”

 

They are still acting like they just recently studied this?  LOL

I remember as a teenager listening to a talk by an Australian Brother on the Last hours of Jesus' life and this was one of the points he brought out ... lovely memories. Thanks for this thread.
