Our Convention is May 24-26. So we’ll probably start our campaign the first week of May.

It was announced on Sunday , our next Circuit Assembly will be at the Montbleu Resort at Lake Tahoe, NV.

 

This is 15 minutes down the road for me.

 

We were using the Grand Sierra Resort at Reno, NV. for years. Apparently, we don't rent enough rooms or frequent the restaurants enough to be invited back.

 

Both of these venues are Nevada hotels / casinos. So, with our children and Bibles, we navigate through the casino lights, bells, smoke etc to our meeting room. Casinos are laid out in such a way that you can't avoid crossing the gaming area. They are doing a better job of ventilating the smoke out of the building. Even gamblers don't want to breathe second-hand cigarette smoke.

So does this mean everyone in the country is going to just one International Convention (such as Lisbon)? Or are you assigned to various convention locations?

I think he means his convention only is not open to the public. All the others we can invite people to. Either way, I've never heard of that kind of arrangement before. I find it unusual.

We will receive a ticket for the entrance and no one else will be invited. It will be closed doors even for disfellowshiped or others that don't apply for a ticket (even Portuguese brothers that live in other countries won't be allowed)

So like, a separation kind of thing? That almost sounds like an ark to me. Of course, not jumping to conclusions.

I see several conventions in Portugal listed on Jw.org. is this convention listed?

Those are all the same convention in Lisbon. There are only 2 small groups of Romanian and Russian that will gather at the assembly hall at a different date

that is so very sad to me. i can't imagine how it will feel to those in that situation or with family in that state who would travel with them... 😢

Unfortunately there are several brothers and sisters that chose not to go to the convention...

I think that's the main reason. We're going to have the convention on the biggest football stadium and it will be completely booked --> It's interesting that we're already having controversy in the media because the members of the clube pertaining to that specific stadium are saying that their membership includes the opportunity to go the the stadium whenever they want. But on those 3 days the stadium is closed for us. They are making some stir over this detail (I'm sure they were influenced by some apostates)

We had a convention like this a few years ago in Stockholm when everyone under the Scandinavian branch territory came to Stockholm. But we still invited interested ones to attend. Where else would they have gone?

How many are you? And what is the capacity of the stadium?

In our case the full capacity is reached by the publishers and the international delegates

 

Plus, I don't know how can it be possible to invite someone 3 weeks before the convention and say that they should go to the capital, 300km away, for 3 days and that they should come and go everyday because by then every hotel is fully booked (it was even difficult to find a place for everyone in every congregation. The congregations in a radius of 80km of the stadium have to go everyday and come back so that there is available accommodations for the congregations more distant from the convention)

You could put the streaming video link on the invitation and they could watch the convention from home.

I would imagine that the local elders would make sure any disfellowshipped ones would have an opportunity to apply for a ticket.

I can not speak for the Portages International Convention, so I won't say it is not impossible, but organizationally I have seen no specific instructions for reaching out to the disfelloshipped since the program of an annual visit by an elders was abandoned a couple of years ago. A DFd person does not get a lapel badge for RCs at this time. Perhaps if tickets are awarded on a in-house family arrangement some may be covered.

This question certainly emphsizes the scary position od DFd ones  during these final days of this system.  It will certainly bring the harsh reality of being on the outside home to them if they are not admitted.

The convention is advertised on jw,org, so what happens when someone turns up to the venue because they saw it on the website?  I can't imagine they would turn them away.

How many are you? And what is the capacity of the stadium?
In our case the full capacity is reached by the publishers and the international delegates

We were slightly over 50,000 and invited people came from Northern and Southern Sweden, Norway, Greenland, Denmark, and the Faroese Islands.

Jerry I didn't realize that they had quit visiting the DF'd ones.    I also didn't know they didn't get lapel cards. I need to do some updated research on this topic.  Thanks for bringing those points out.

I heard that about the "no visiting" anymore, but the lapel cards... I thought that was mainly up to the individuals?  If lapel cards are retrieved by someone else in a family, it seems up to the conscience of the individual if they wear a card despite being df'd.  I've never heard or read policy on either situation, to be honest.

If someone appears without a ticket he can't enter. I can say that even friends that changed their mind about going won't have that chance anymore. The same for friends that were admitted again in the time frame between the window closing and the date of the convention

everyone will receive a ticket with the specific place on the stadium and only those will be able to attend - no exceptions

it's the group overseer that distributes the cards to the RC's, according to the ones on the group. no card is to be given to any disfellowshiped person
