Hip Replacement

Recommended Posts

Good Day

I have a question for many in this forum.  Has anyone in here ever have Hip Replacement done, where the surgeon went in from the front instead of the side of the hip? Some friends in my congregation said that going through the front is better because of the less amount of blood loss.  This sounds good to me (even though I will still state my refusal for blood transfusion) I need some good advice, because my appointment is coming up soon.   Thank you.

I had hip replacement a couple years ago. Normal method at Methodist hospital in Houston. I had no issues. No blood was not an issue. Your doctor may ask you to take the standard stuff (to late at night for me to recall technical names LOL) to increase blood cell count. Mine did not, but I have talked to others were they did.

My advice is make sure your doctor is a wise old vet who has done the surgery many thousands of times. Talk to him about your concerns. Maybe this new method is good, but it sounds like it is not common. That would be a concern for me.

You will be surprised how much better you feel and how quick you will recover from this surgery. My experience.

In Australia they use "front method" for 7-10 years now.

Recovery time is faster and better. (smaller cut too)

Few in my congregation had this procedure done in the front, and all of them recovered quick.

Hope this helps
