Best Practices for sharing JW Library on a Windows10 computer used by different language speakers

Recommended Posts

In my hall we have JW Library in three different languages: Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian. Each congregation has a different user. The menus are in the same language as the operating system (Spanish) but at every meeting they simply use the language button to display the publications in their language.

Are you having trouble with this?

Even in Kingdom Hall's that have have more than one Congregation that speak the same Language we set up separate User Accounts on the Computer.

That way they can be set up how each congregation prefers, eg. some like a countdown timer before the meeting, some dont.

Yes. All members of Jehovah's household.

@jwhess Where are those instructions? This I think is the heart of my question. What's the best way to handle this situation?

@carlos It seems you are suggesting three separate computer accounts, each sharing the JL LIbrary application but configured per the tastes of the user account in which the apps is accessed? So a user a spanish user, would have an acocunt that delivers content in spanish and the JL LIbrary App is configured to deliver content in Spanish as well?

Br. Lawrence, today elders have the ability to download confidential documents into JW Library (like the Shepherding book and instructions for special activities).  These are just jwpub files in the Library.  If there was only one computer and only one JW Library downloaded, I do not know how the access to these documents could be restricted.

I would think a separate user account with their own downloads would be better but I am not sure if that is possible due to the location where the files are stored.

Perhaps a new user with a new name gets the directory in their own name.  I might be C:/Jhess/desktop/JWlibrary  and my son might be C:/mhess/desktop/JWlibrary  and he would have a different library file.  I do not know.

Almost that. :)

The app menus are always in the language of the operating system. I don't think that can be changed. But the language of the publications can be changed.

So in our case the app is always in Spanish, but when the Romanian congregation logs in with their account, the publications appear in Romanian even though menus are in Spanish.
