I took the overdose rescuer course some time ago, and carry two doses of nasal naloxone.  Some pharmacies or med centers are (now) providing it for free or for a price with or without prescription. Each state differs, but Walgreen's participates and can answer ??? about where you live. I would recommend anyone to learn more about narcan, as it is a potential life saver. I did not have to retake the course to get my new Overdose Rescue Kit, today. I will keep it in my car and keep the old one for backup. It does not have a necessary expiration date, but may lessen it's effectiveness over time, so there is no harm in using the older issued doses if a person has not recovered, yet. I found a mention of Narcan elsewhere on this site, but that was for injectable, I think. There is a push to make knowledge of nasal naloxone more readily available. There are some short tutorials online, and I think on You-Tube. With more and more carfentenil (elephant tranq) deaths, even a minute amount used to cut another drug can be a death sentence. I know of one Emergency Professional who mentioned he has revived a carfentanil overdosed person with multiple repeat doses of Narcan, but this is not the common result. Some ambulances have only been allowed a limited amount of Narcan doses. They have to radio back in for permission of extra doses to be used or sent. Many ER professionals have had to watch people die. If you were in the vicinity with your kit, you could back up the Ambulance. I have a Bible Student First Responder. I will ask her if they have restocked the ambulances with additional supply these days, as the Narcan movement is rapidly changing. Also if you have narcan or a kit, you can start treatment before the ambulance arrives. I read a news story from MA over the weekend https://www.gazettenet.com/Holyoke-police-respond-to-9-overdoses-in-16-hours-30723864 8 of these victims were saved. I would hate to be the parents of the one out of nine that died. We live in treacherous times, hard to deal with. Opioid Abuse is common in my Senior Citizen Complex, as well as on the streets. Another thought  provoking article from earlier this year:https://www.arrowpassage.com/limits-on-narcan/

Narcan truly seems like a "miracle drug" with the results it produces. Some victims are on the brink of death - some even not breathing correctly and "on their way out" when Narcan is administered and a few minutes later the person is up on their feet asking what happened.

It is a shame how common Opioid Abuse/Addiction is these days ... how we need the New System
