Arrow's Twin (Not identical) lol

Recommended Posts

I lost my beloved collie, Lacey J. Dalton, to cancer, back in the early 90s.  :(

She was my precious girl and I was missing her terribly. :(

A brother and sister in a neighboring congregation heard about my loss and

called.  They had a young male collie, Arrow.  They lived in the city and Arrow

barked up a storm at everything/body that moved.   They had Arrow de-barked,

in the hopes that the surgery would solve the noise problem and satisfy their

neighbors.  Alas, Arrow could still bark, although muffled now, and the neighbor

kids would tease the poor thing through the fence, creating no peace for anyone,

including poor Arrow.   They thought it would be lovely if their Arrow could come

and live with us on our great big farm in the country, where neighbors are few and

far between, and all have barking dogs of their own.

I said I'd try it out and so we gave Arrow a home.

Arrow had been an outside dog.

We wanted him to be an inside dog.

Collies have a remarkable 'under coat' of incredibly soft, fluffly hair that keeps

them warm in winter and cool in summer.  Trouble is, if you don't brush your

dog, the undercoat starts to mat.  Arrow needed to be de-matted.

I took out my perm pick

And began removing Arrow's undercoat little tuffs of hair at a time.

Doesn't hurt the dog at all.

It's a tedious process that takes several hours, several times a year.

By the time I was done with Arrow, I had this ginormous pile

of light, fluffy hair on the floor.  Why, there was enough hair there

to make a whole n'other dog.

So I thought, 'Why not?' :D

We didn't have Arrow's twin very long.  But the entire

time he was with us, he never barked once. :D

(I drew the eyes and nose on a white sheet of paper

with a black magic marker and then cut them out.)
