When I think about stuff that makes me happy usually it's the release of something. Movies, Video Games, and other forms of media. I get super hype when I see trailers of things I like.

But I was just thinking about how it's all fake. It's stuff humans create to entertain ourselves.

I don't see anything wrong with getting pleasure from movies, games, etc, so long as it doesn't become more important that our service to Jehovah or is inappropriate entertainment for Christians. I rarely get excited about new movies, etc, because most of it, these days promotes a specific narrative that's rarely challenged, and the few stuff that does challenge it is either made by Christendom or is super violent and full of sex or spritiism. I started spending my free time writing a story series, to fill the gap that would normally be filled with watching some escapist content. At least with that I could control the content and ensure there's no sex, violence, spiritism or Marxist or  lgbt+ propaganda.

I think in the new system, eventually, we'll be making movies, games, etc. It will all be guaranteed to agree with Bible principles then too. I've learned to appreciate some of the movies on jw broadcast in the meantime. It may not be as flashy and dramatic as the media of the world, but at least it has an honesty you don't see in worldly media. I remind myself even the best of the world's content often promotes at least one lie.

I'm in the same boat. There's not much else to look forward to in the world beyond a new diversion from reality. And I'll admit I'm playing my video games more than usual right now, with the quarantine on.

Being a JW means you're looking forward to something else as well. Something without a stated release date.

If Paradise came today, there'd be a few games I'd never get to play, and a few movies I'd never get to see. Admittedly, things I'd be looking forward to and don't want to miss out on; but there's nothing that would make me wish Paradise would hold off a bit.

Remember, all the things that the world calls important, like a big house, or a high-paying job? They're hollow too. Things that people consider world-changing, like becoming a world leader, or a captain of industry? Also won't last seven seconds into Paradise. Building a skyscraper, or even the Pyramids?  Founding a new nation, or the world's biggest church?

Ecclesiastes 1:14:  "I saw all the works that were done under the sun, And look! everything was futile, a chasing after the wind."

My family watched 'Remember The Wife Of Lot' the other night, and I kept thinking: "If she'd chosen to go the other way and focus on the real estate business, where would it be now, during Covid-19?"

Don't let the world dishearten you with it's hollowness. The emptiness of the world is the whole point of being a Christian.

You might be interested in a blog post I did on this topic when I was going through such thoughts, and I approached it quite Biblically and Psychologically, with the case of Solomon as a strong point.

I like your website's font and design. Is it a paid or free package on wordpress? You have any idea how much such costs. . .

Brother Matthew, I really enjoyed reading your blog. Well thought out and easy to read. Hope to read your other articles in the blog.

Daydream -

Scientists have discovered that daydreaming is an important tool for creativity. It causes a rush of activity in a circuit, which connects different parts of the brain and allows the mind to make new associations.
