New Laptop Battery

I just got a new laptop battery off of eBay. Saved 40% over getting one from Toshiba.

It arrived and said to start off by running it out of juice, and then charging it up, and repeating the cycle 5 times for maximum battery performance.

Although, I believe now that when it is charged, the laptop should be unplugged and allowed to run on battery alone. I heard that leaving it plugged in all the time when 100% charged it what killed it to begin with.

For older Lithium Ion batteries it's a fact (especially with the experience i've personally had in building computers most of my life). The newer Lithium Ion batteries today I heard have improved with that, so it shouldn't be a problem. I think the damage has to do with a repetitive electrical cycle going in and out of the batter constantly even though it's fully charged. However if you're USING the computer while the battery is fully charged AND it's plugged in then it should be fine. The worst case would affect you if your laptop is OFF and you have a fully charged batter WHILE it stays plugged in.

If the battery is pretty old I'd just spare myself the unnecessary head trauma and keep it unplugged with a fully charged battery, OR if you could just muster up the muscle to take the battery out of the laptop every time it's plugged in then you can just be on the safe side that way.

I always leave my laptop plugged in..That's probably the reason my battery died too.

Ebay is the best for cheap replacement battery's on almost any electronic devise.

I think It's heading to me via a small row boat by the feel of how long its taking to get here..

Ah, big difference. Mine was in California I think. It had already made the voyage across the Pacific before I ordered it.
