Disaster relief volunteer

Did you try doing some research on jw.org? Look under LIBRARY > VIDEOS > OUR ACTIVITIES, and scroll down to Relief Work. There are several videos describing and showing what the volunteers do in their role in disaster relief. Some of these should provide some answers for you.

As noted recently, every year the amount of relief aid required increases. Disasters are on the increase. So if you're thinking of following a goal of helping others in this way, that is to be commended! Most needed after a natural disaster is spiritual help. l know you are relatively new in the truth, so that part might require a little more time for you to grow spiritually. But ask your elders if you can help out in this capacity if that is indeed your goal. Your question gives the impression that it's on your mind.

If you want to know, too, how to volunteer, that's something you might want to start a conversation on with your group overseer. I'm guessing the need varies from location to location, so the elders in your congregation will know if there's a need, how to apply, and what you'll be required to do in the case that you are asked to work on a relief assignment. From what I've heard from friends in louisiana, from doing relief work for hurricane effected areas, it's done a little bit differently due to covid, but someone who's actually volunteered in these areas (as I was not able to) might be able to give better insight into exactly how it was done.

Volunteering to participate in Disaster Relief efforts outside of the congregation is pretty easy.

Create an account on jw.org, give the Secretary the information he needs to link the account to the congregation, go to the My Applications section of the account, fill out and submit the DC-50 LDC application. The elders have instructions, the S-131, they can share that explains those steps in detail.
