Interestingly the memorial attendance was reduced (I thought it would be higher) and the memorial partakers increased from 20,526 in 2019

2020 Report :

Worldwide Memorial Attendance: 17,844,773

Memorial Partakers Worldwide: 21,182

I was thinking the same thing about the number of attendees at the memorial. I can't help but wonder if that number is how many we can say for certain attended. Because, wasn't there a story about it being broadcast in several countries in Africa? No way to know the exact count for that.

We have not count attendances in broadcast. Only lives. For example if someone watches a streamed recorded meeting, the attendance is not recorded to the congregation. So if someone watched the memorial on a television, that will not be recorded. Only if they have been on site either by videoconferencing or at the kingdom halls they will be counted.

This is wrong. Publishers who observe the memorial this way are appropriately counted and the numbers of partakers. As long as they submitted the numbers to the secretary and he will tabulate as the combined total of the congregation

This would only be the case IF they reported their # to the elders. It would not be the case of thousands who just watched on TV and didnt report to the local elders. It seems that was the point.

In the state of Florida, due to COVID-19, we could not hold the memorial in the prison system. This means that the number who observed it on their own could not be counted and there was no way to know how many did this since the prison system did not report any numbers to us.

How many people that would amount to may not seem like too many - but, if this was the case at prisons in many places that could have an impact on the total number reported.

That’s interesting. I wonder about our brothers and sisters in care homes too.
