Dark Matter

Recommended Posts

It seems like a lot of theory hinges on "dark matter".  Just wondering what others think about it.  Im not really versed in the topic, at all.  I just casuslly read articles about it when it pops up in my feeds.  But i have always thought of empty space as nothingness, blank unpainted canvas.  I think of the scripture in Job 26:7 that states the Earth is hanging "upon nothing".  Maybe its not literally "nothing".  Maybe it is.

I read the article in 11/2007 Awake about the Bibles scientific accuracy:

Just like the empty space between you and the wall that is from of you is made of something. Every inch of the vast emptiness of the universe  is made of something. It is made of atoms. Job 26:7 is accurate according how we should understand it the right way. The sun stood still according how Joshua saw it. Joshua 10 chpt. We see the sun rise up from the east and set in the west, yet it is not happening. We see an optical illusion.

butTrue. Even experts have no idea what dark matter is, and I hope we find out more in the new system. Dark Matter is simply a catchall phrase to apply to all non-baryonic matter that scientists have detected by various means, wether directly or indirectly, if I'm not mistaken. They've found that such matter is there, but they don't know what it does, because it doesn't interact with Baryonic matter; Baryonic matter is all the matter that we consider matter. It's the matter that matters.

So, yeah, the earth does stand on nothing, only held in place by gravity? But what is gravity? It's merely a force. According to Einstein, I believe it's thought to be a warp in space-time. Which does make kind of, nothing. It certainly isn't matter.

In our thread about what God "sees" I pointed out that our perception of what is 'real' or what is 'matter' is our response to a variety of forces that Jehovah put into place.  The physical appearance of matter that we see is not what God sees.  He does not depend on light bouncing off objects and hitting the retina in his eye.  He sees what the object actually is.  We are made up of a combination of invisible forces that Jehovah activated by his Holy Spirit.  So humans propose "dark matter" to explain unknown gravity in the universe.  But we don't even know how to explain "gravity" in the first place.

Years ago there was a model of gravity and matter based on a thin, flexible rubber sheet with gridlines drawn on it.  In some places the sheet was 'poked up' from below (like with a broom handle) and a stretched peak appeared.  In other places the sheet was 'pulled down' into a funnel shape.  These action stretched the sheet and represented various points of matter.  A small ball rolled across the sheet would be attracted toward some spots and repelled from others.

This two-dimension sheet has been long replaced by 3-D animations but it reminded me at the time that what I see as a flower, a red rose, is really a flex in the rubber sheet.  I never forgot that Jehovah not only sees the "sheet" he made it and knows how it works...:sunshine:

Let us look at Job 26:7 "He stretches out the northern sky* over empty space, Suspending the earth upon nothing" There is no doubt he was inspired by God to write this.  And  scientifically true too. Like us, Job sees the sky as being empty. But we do see the earth hanging upon nothing, yet Job and us see the moon and sun hang upon nothing. Did Job thought if the moon and the sun hang upon nothing, then he might thought the earth hang upon nothing too. We just don't know, yet this scripture is far advance with Jehovah's spirit.
