I've always had androids but I purchased an Iphone this year,

honestly didn't find it so different, I'd just say using an iphone is so much simpler than android... user interface is designed for simplicity so don't expect any super in depth features like android.

Also Apple have made it so that if you have other apple devices everything syncs up so perfectly and easily... which I really like.

Tip 2.

Once the unboxing is completed, and packaging properly recycled, please connect the phone to a charger.

Once charged, please add to your contacts the nearest donut shop details LOL :whistling:

One of the reasons I'm going back is I'm fed up of the false economy of android phones.

1, 2 or 3 years of updates tops. My son has an iPhone 6s plus thats still on the latest os. That's around 6 years for the same money as the Samsung phone I got back then. I am on my third android phone in the time he has had his iPhone.

So, yep I'm going back.

I think when you set it up, it will ask if you wanna move your data from an android phone but I’ve never personally selected that option.

Yes, android gives you 3 different ways to do the same thing...

One small crack doesn't mean you are broken; it means that you were put to the test and didn't fall apart..

That was the main reason I chose it..unless you really have a need for all the different bells and whistles it really isn't more efficient or useful, imo .   I also like the colors iPhone uses much better if that matters....it really was the dealbreaker for me..🙂

The Iphone that I bought does what is needed to make my calls, texts and information exchange work.  That is what a cellphone is supposed to do.  It interfaces with my brothers who have Ihones better than my Android did (we live out in country, not good coverage)

However, back to the part where everybody says "I love the Iphone OS or interface better".  Maybe some people like it.  That is good.  But I hate it.  I come from a Dos, Windows, Android background and there is nothing you can do to make the interface (read desktop display here) to work the way you want it to without rooting, jailbreaking or whatever.  Apple has total control of icons, spacing icons, naming the icons and so on.  Yes, I know we have widget control now.  I know I can clump a few apps into a  folder and give it a new name.  All of my devices (except Apple) allow me to place my app icons around the outside edge of the display, leaving the center open.  Not Apple.  I usually color or rename my icons on the display.  Not Apple. I can import or change icon pictures to remind me of what the app, link or folder contains.  Not in Apple.

So I use my Iphone, I am thankful it works well, I am glad it updates regularly. I am very happy it has a great display resolution.  But when I want to change something, I very much dislike this piece of equipment.

EDIT:  I purchased my Iphone with the maximum amount of memory possible, there is no way to add an SD card to expand the storage. We JW's store a lot of data...♥️

Hi Mike,

I think you made a good move. (tu)

I much more prefer iPhones for their excellent security feature and updates, and also some or maybe many of the apps appear to be of better quality.

For example, years ago when I switched from Android to Apple, I found some apps that I had used on Android in the Apple App Store, so I was happy to see them and so of course I downloaded them right away. And each app seemed to run much better, smoother than the Android version.

All of us have personal preferences so I can understand why some people like Android as those phones initially are less expensive and you can customize much better. I also had the iPhone 6s until recently when I upgraded, but the the iPhones 6s still worked great and I was getting all the newest updates that the iPhone 12s were getting.

So I was really happy with the value even though of course initially I had to pay a little more than if I would have bought an Android phone. But I keep on the look for sales and I usually find good deals, not on the newest iPhones obviously, but on iPhones that are just a generation or two before the newest ones. Enjoy your new phone! 📱

It really doesn't matter what phone others like when it comes to answering the OP question - I hope he got the information needed to move his information and set up his new phone.

The lack of control over how many icons I have on a single screen will be irritating. I have my icons in a 5x6 grid on my android for now.

I do prefer the aspect ratio that iphones and ipads use over android.

One example is that when viewing pdf files, one page fills the screen with no wasted space.

On android phones I have had, there is always a wasted strip top or bottom of the screen. Tall and narrow. Not my favourite.

I went with the 256gb version iphone 11.

I had looked at the 12 but battery life is not as good on the base model.

I looked at the 11 pro but the screen is too small. The 11 Pro max was not in stock. The top two 12 models are just silly money for features that are fun but a distraction at the end of the day. I don't need any more distractions when it comes to technology.

My android is 128gb with a 64gb sim installed. I will miss the s-pen though for drawing and note taking. :)

I found an app made by Apple for android called move to ios that should move my contacts/messages etc to the iphone.

Not sure what infirmation it won't move though so I will keep my android unchanged until I know I have everything I need moved. At least it should help ease the move.

Which is awesome and a reason to use Android. I don't like Apple's "my or the highway" attitude. Its my phone, let me do what I want with it. If Apple decides it doesn't like a particular app because of something stupid like politics it removes it from the store and there is no way you can install it. If Apple decides it doesn't like JW Library then you won't be able to install it. For the time being Android let's do whatever you want. That could change too and then I will be looking for a pure Linux phone
