Herod The Great and The Olympics in Japan this Summer

I was doing research on the Herod Dynasty(with the emphasis on the NASTY !😲) as i really didnt know much about they got started in being such a powerful family, and to

use this as a subject for family study night.

 

Anyway i read an article about the Olympic Games of 12 BC being in trouble financially and guess who steps in to save the day ?

 

Yes Herod The Great gave huge financial help to make sure those Games went ahead and even participated in the Olympics himself ! 

(If executing family members was a sport then Herod would be clear favourite for the gold medal (or laurel 😉)

 

So if your watching the Olympics this Summer, watch out for the Olympic President Seiko Hashimoto and instead of her, picture Herod The Great instead, because back in 12 BC, because of his generosity, Herod The Great was made a perpetual President of the Olympic Games 😲😲
