I was just reviewing my jw.org account profile and I noticed there is now an option to indicate if I use WhatsApp. 

 

Is that new?

I think it is. Just updated mine. Thanks for the notification. 😀

It has been there at least since February of this year. However I can not say for sure if it was there earlier than that.

 

If it really is new, then it was added at least before January 2021.

Go to your Contact Details and check the Mobile Phone information.

I checked mine - it is there and already checked so I guess I fixed that some time back

It wasn't visible as a choice.  It showed up when I selected "edit phone number"

Nope, it is not new.

I saw this at least from January. But in Portugal it is not available yet as a valid selection

I use this often to show the brothers they don't need to be scared of WhatsApp. The brothers in headquarters clearly like to use it, it's a very convenient app, and great for preaching too.

I pointed this out to our brothers in March 2020, resulting in us using WhatsApp for the BOE and FSGs throughout lockdown. So I know its been there at least that long.

I am still hesitant because its owned by Facebook. I thought it was great before that. I would not trust it for anything confidential. I know its end to end encryption but I just don't trust Facebook at all. If they tell me to use it I will.

Our LDC  group requests the use, advises the use but does not "require" the use of the app.

I am just publisher, have acc but, only can add phone number and email.

We've been assisting some of the brethren to set up their individual accounts in the Cong...

In many instances, we've only managed to create the profile, then the activation code gets sent to us; but find in many instances that it doesn't work, stating that the password used is incorrect....

So, we just maybe need to know if this is a transversal problem, or are we missing something?
