Star Trek and colonized worlds

so... i got up at 2am thinking........ yeah we all know i shouldn't be doing that but here we go. the original Star Trek That Which Survives they had colonized mini-worlds, civilization fell and died as a result of disease now i can see that

 

But hear is Q. in the Star Trek Next Generation The Outpost

their civilization had colonized many solar systems but only their homeworld had a supernova so wouldn't the other colonized worlds or systems steel be there and have people on them

That depends on how dependent they were on the homeworld.  That's a theme in science fiction sometimes.  Happened to the Kryptonians.  They were so reliant on the homeworld that when it was gone, they couldn't sustain themselves.  It's possible that could happen to them.  Or another race sees how vulnerable they are and takes advantage.

It funny, I am looking at the forum while the TV is on. I saw this thread and looked into it - while at the same time, ST Next Generation is the show that was already on the TV.

So weird; I was just thinking of Star Trek this morning and how they used the transporter to travel. Then I see this thread. Weird.
