Common FAQ's about JWTalk

I'm sure there is plenty of damage one can do with just limited access! Think I'll keep the "confidential talk with the moderator's" quite busy for the next few months!

Don't live for the moment - live for the future! :D

What makes you think it will remain "confidential"?

What does 'pinned' mean?

As new threads are added to a Forum they eventually make their way to page two and then three and so on. Having a thread pinned leaves it at the top of page one of the Forum.

In the profile box- or the box that pops up, when one clicks on their user name- there is a box (to the right of the profile picture) with a question that asks: 'What's on your mind?'

...and to the right of it, a button that says: 'Update'.

What do the 'question box' and button do?

Hi David. You can use that textbox to change your status. Basically you can write there whatever you like everyone to see about you.

When you access JWTalk's main page, there is a column on the right titled Recent Status Updates. You can see there the last statuses changed.

How does the 'what's on your mind' area work?

I noticed it, on the left side of the Profile page, in the 'profile feed' section.

(I also noticed it appear in a pop-up box, beneath my the user name.)

Is that just an expression feature, or...how or why do people use it?

Hi David. That area you mention is to post your status, that is, whatever you want, how you are feeling, something that happened today... a bit like Twitter. Then others can comment on it.

Some members here use it all the time to say whatever crosses their minds, while others only use it in important occasions, or seldom.

Thank you, that was an excellent explanation.   It is an interesting feature.

I have a question. Is that a way to find out why a post was not posted? Maybe privately? I would like to know if possible. Was it the terminology, the opinion, the subject matter? If I knew i would learn and not make the same mistake. I could correct myself. Could that be arranged?

Yes there is! Post your concerns in the "Confidential Talk with the Moderators."

Hi I just got over a 1000 views and a HOT sign in front of "What is the minimum age for baptism?"  So does getting a Hot sign get me quicker access to full membership?

Nope. Your access is based on what you do, not on what others do.

Your topic is hot but sometimes it takes a while for the mods to get to know you and change your access level...

CAUTION: The comments above may contain personal opinion, speculation, inaccurate information, sarcasm, wit, satire or humor, let the reader use discernment...:D
