Google has stopped allowing less secure apps like Outlook from accessing Google accounts using just a logon and password. If you use Outlook to download your Gmail, like my wife does, and your Outlook stopped doing that on May 30th, this article will help.

Google's policy change also affected my security camera. I get an email notification when the camera detects movement and the camera uses my email account to send the email. So i had to set up an App Password for the camera.

I guess I haven't noticed this change because I don't really use Gmail - although I do use Windows Live Mail since I prefer a POP email over webmail.

 

Several of the apps, websites and other things are now requiring two-step verification.
