Installing a ceiling monitor by the projector

Recommended Posts

We are currently considering adding a monitor in the same area as the projector at the KH. How has your KH done this? Has a monitor been mounted to the projector itself? Pictures of the install would be very helpful.

Just make sure that any cats do not jump on top the ceiling fan. No matter how far into the NW, if have cat and a ceiling fan, somehow they will get on it. It is part of Jehovah's creation.

We don't have a projector so I don't fully understand the question. Can you provide pictures?

We have a TV/monitor on the back wall of the auditorium. It allows those on the stage to see the same thing the congregation sees ... not the Zoom feed.

Only thing is, most of the brothers do not have good enough eyesight to see the song words at that distance - or any other text that may get displayed.

Well, I tried to attach an image, it was 3.5mb and it uploaded but then displayed an error code 200.

We have a projector that comes through the drop ceiling about 15 feet in front of the stage. There is a pole that the projector is fastened to with a mount. Behind the projector is the USB Virtual Meeting camera.

We also have a large 40" television monitor in the rear of the hall, but it is difficult to read the words, especially of the questions in the presentation videos. We have a tablet next to the lectern, however the COBE would like a television monitor on the ceiling. Thank you for your replies.

We had a projector hanging from the ceiling, but when we received monitors to be on the stage, we removed the projector and replaced it with a 27" monitor which replicated what the stage monitors showed.

As I had made the bracket myself that held the projector, which was made from two main pieces, one to adjust the height and angle for the projector (lower bracket), I just made a new lower bracket that used the VESA mount and used the upper bracket that was already attached to the ceiling. This was done way before COVID.

After COVID, we decided to changed the use of that monitor to be that of a Zoom monitor which is replicated to what we see on the sound desk, thus the speaker can see those on Zoom. Our default for this monitor is the gallery view, but whenever a brother/sister on Zoom wishes to answer, we "pin" them to the "First screen" to make it more visible for the speaker to see exactly who has their hand up, saving them to squint their eyes. Also as the image is larger than the gallery view, they can see more clearly that someone wishes to comment from Zoom.

Now that we have a PTZ camera (we are yet to install it on the ceiling but have it mounted onto a tripod next to the sound desk) and now using OBS as the "camera source" into Zoom, we now have a source input of the stage monitors to be feed into the same "camera source" connection to Zoom. Thus we do not have to use the share screen feature of Zoom and which takes several more clicks, as we have to selct the screen to share (the stage monitors), mute our camera input, the click to share before playing songs or videos on the stage monitors. We now just click the one icon in OBS to feed what is shown on the stage monitors which is feed into Zoom camera source. Also, we "pin to first screen" our camera on Zoom, so the conductor on the stage can see the song or video played on the ceiling monitor without the need to turn themselves around to view the stage monitors. It has made our job so much easier in many ways. We also control our PTZ camera within OBS as well, which allows you to have up to 16 default camera angles that you can name individually as you please, and easy to readjust and save as well on the fly.

This is our stage setup with the monitors on the stage and ceiling. Our stage is very shallow, thus the householder table (left) and chairman's table (right) are away from the speaker's position, as the steps are located on the far right (out of view) and about 1/3 from the left (you can see the hand rail). So we have to change the PTZ camera position for each area of the stage.

The ceiling monitor where you could see the ceiling rose on the ceiling where the old placement of the bracket originally was for the projector behind the monitor.

This is what our sound desk currently looks like, as we have a few new gadgets yet to install on our system to make our sound much easier and hopefully minimise the feedback and ringing issues that we have with our KH. What is displayed on the smaller monitor that is just above the amplifier/mixer is what the brother conducting would see on the ceiling monitor. This monitor folds down into the sound desk when we close it up after the meeting, as I also made this bracket myself. When closed, it just hovers above the amplifier and keyboard. The Zoom image that is shown is from the older webcam which is located on the mast of the wide screen monitor, which you can just see the top of it.

Our system is designed to be just used by one brother to control everything.
