Learning Sign Language

Recommended Posts

We have a family friend ( not a witness) that has a 2 year old with a speach disability , she can hear fine but can not speak, I talke dto my wife about it and she said she heard the society stopped printing the sign language learning aids.

Is there another option , does someone have them for down load?

The mother wants to learn and teach her baby so they can communicate, thank you in advance

When my son was young he had speech delay due to Autism. Makaton is good for kids with these problems it is a form of sign language for young babies of kids and adults with speech problems.http://www.makaton.org/

In my sons case we used P,E,C's which is picture communication cards. these were great with my son took the frustration away.

The only place you can find perfection , is in the dictionary.

My son was like four before he started to talk in words one could understand. He went to a speach therapist and once he got the hang of it we couldn't get him to shut up. Without knowing all the facts of the severity of your friend's disability, I would say, enjoy the quiet times while they last. :)

We cannot incite if we are not in sight.___Heb.10:24,25

One of my cousins was two and still didn't speak. He was taken to a specialist who asked what he did when he wanted something. The answer was that he pointed and grunted and then it was given to him. The family was told not to give him anything, even food, unless he asked for it. Talk about your temper tantrums!

Finally he gave in and started talking in complete sentences.

He figured that he had a system that worked fine with a minimum of effort and then people started messing with it. Who wouldn't be mad?
