Looking for a room to rent, Brooklyn/Manhattan, 10 days

Recommended Posts

A couple of friends of mine, mother and daughter, both regular pioneers, are planning to visit Brooklyn Bethel next month and don't know how to find lodgings. They'd like to find a room to rent with some sort of cooking facilities available. They also wish to be close to the subway for transportation. They would prefer to stay in Manhattan. Otherwise Brooklyn or New York. Here are their travel plans:

  • Arrival Aug 25
  • Departure Sep 4
  • Visit Brooklyn Bethel
  • Visit Pattersons
  • Attend all congregation meetings
  • Field service with local congregation
  • Some sightseeing

They won't be home during the day, so the room is basically just for sleeping - plus breakfast and the evening meal. They'd be happy to stay in the home of brothers, but they wish to pay. They're not looking for free accomodation. They both speak English. Simona is in her 50's and Isabella is in her 20's.

Could anyone help them to find a room to rent? Thank you!

I believe that there are special rates at motels close to Bethel for visitors. We stayed in one near Patterson when my son was there. Usually if you know someone at Bethel they can get you in.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

Thank you so much to everyone for your replies! At the moment I haven't got time to write properly because I'm at our District Convention!

A big thank you to all the brothers and sisters who so kindly took the time to post or PM helpful information! I've forwarded everything on to Simona. She's amazed at your response, and thanks everyone very much! What a privilege to part of this amazing world-wide brotherhood!

To all of you who were so kind and helpful: I thought you might like to know the results of your efforts. I've just received this e-mail from Simonetta:

"I must tell you that your contacts were VERY useful! I rang up some brothers and sisters of the list given by Laurie (from the blog) and I found the accomodation in Brooklyn!!!!! Just close to the Bethel!!! I'm so happy... I think this trip will be very encouraging, especially for Isabella!"

So, thank you all once again!
