How do you count Convention/Assembly Attendees?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, especially those with experience as attendants during conventions and assemblies. How do you usually count attendees?

In our current process, we assign attendants to different sections of the venue. Each attendant manually counts the people in their area and sends their tally to the keyman. The keyman then compiles these numbers and forwards the total to the attendant overseer, who calculates the overall count. All of this coordination typically happens through Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp.

Has anyone found a more efficient method?
Is there an app or digital solution that can streamline this process and make coordination faster?

I do not know of a digital solution that I would trust.

However, I do like to be accurate, so I know how many seats and rows in my section. So if I have 10 rows of 10 seats, I expect a max of 100. I count heads as I go up the row..

I count empty seats as I  return.

The 2 should tally.

(The tricky bit is the kids on the floor.  Lol)

We use WhatsApp at the KH.

I guess it could be used in bigger venues like the Assembly Hall.

That way there is a written and immediate record.

If a bro with a laptop had an excel spreadsheet open, he only needs to key in the figure for the appropriate section to get the total figure automatically collated.
