  1. So if a MS shows up for service or is scheduled to lead for service they are not required to wear a tie or jacket? If there are no elders or MS available to lead for service but a qualified brother is there he is not required to wear a tie and jacket? Agreed. If they do not know the flock, how can they make the best decisions? All this discussion, choices each congregation is making does not go unnoticed by Jehovah. I think of all the comments that have been made, not just hear do not go unnoticed by Jehovah. If changes need to be made, they will be made. I view these changes as interesting. Even challenging for some. Is this part of accepting decisions or suggestions part of the things we may not fully understand? Yes. Wearing a tie, not wearing a tie is not important. Sisters wearing dresses, skirts or pants is not important. What is important is loyalty and humility. I may not agree with what the body of Elders in our area does 100%. Some of you know that I have made my frustration in that area in the private section of this forum. We all need to get things off our chest/mind that bother us from time to time. That does not mean I challenge everything the elders or even the CO does when he gives us direction. That being said, I feel it is okay to ask why from time to time. Such as why are we doing this? What is our short-term goals and benefits? What are the long-term goals?
  2. This channel on Youtube provides insightful information.
  3. A lot has been said about whether we should wear a tie or not. One glaring question is why? Why do we wear ties? What's there origin? From the article "Why Do We Wear Ties" it makes this opening statement: "Throughout time ties have had connotations of power and status. As the pinnacle of professional and suave dress wear, they are a staple in any man's wardrobe. Why are sharp and ambitious men drawn to wearing ties, and when did this begin?" Another interesting statement was: "Over the ages, the cravat has evolved into the modern necktie we wear today. Since their origins in military regiments, they have been a symbol of power and respect. Throughout the 19th century, they swept through Britain. They were found in most universities, schools, sports clubs and gentlemen clubs. Ties were (and remain) a clear symbol of privilege and exclusivity." I am not going to quote the entire article, it's not that long but it is interesting. - https://www.emmettlondon.com/en-us/blogs/news/why-do-we-wear-ties#:~:text=Since their origins in military, symbol of privilege and exclusivity.
  4. I just watched the cringe worthy video that was created to sell the Bible. It's theme is "'Let's Make America Pray Again". I won't post the video here but you can go to Youtube and watch.
  5. Our Circuit Overseer conducted the meeting for service with a cardigan sweater, nice shirt and tie. He did that for the whole week including the meeting with the pioneers.
  6. From a CNN interview : "Moderator Frank Luntz asked "$$$$$" whether he has ever asked God for forgiveness for his actions. “I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don’t think so,” he said. “I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don’t bring God into that picture. I don’t.” "$$$$$" said that while he hasn’t asked God for forgiveness, he does participate in Holy Communion."
  7. And just like a page with many different words. If put together correctly words form sentences, sentences form paragraphs. I am glad to see the variety. Hopefully no more getting mustard on some of my ties!
  8. I thought of Psalms 30:11 when I read this "You have changed my mourning into dancing; You have removed my sackcloth, and you clothe me with rejoicing"-RNWT "Then he turned my sorrow into joy! He took away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy"-Living English Bible
  9. I think the study note on 2 Timothy 3:5 applies " 2 Timothy 3:5 having an appearance of godliness: Paul says that “in the last days,” many would have “an appearance” of godliness, that is, a mere outward form or a semblance of godly devotion. (2Ti 3:1) Some Bible translations render this thought: “They will maintain the outward appearance of religion” or “They will look like they are religious.” Even though people may profess to worship God, their wicked conduct or their excessive love of themselves, money, or pleasures contradicts their claim.—2Ti 3:2-4.
  10. When I was having the AI create it here is what I wrote: Yellowstone park with wolves and bison. I guess it created a buffawolf or the wolf just had lunch.
  11. I used the AI DALL-E 3 program to create two of my favorite places with some of my favorite creatures. Yellowstone Park and Mount St. Helens.
  12. Very interesting breakdown of what happened to the DALIS. Sal Mercogliano, the host, has degrees in Military and Naval History, Maritime History and Nautical Archaeology, and Marine Transportation. He is a former merchant mariner, and teaches courses in maritime history, security and industry policy.
  13. I received an unexpected gift today in the mail. My cousin and her husband sent me this Jerry Garcia tie. They found a bunch at the local Goodwill where they live, all brand new. I mentioned I really liked this one. Had no clue they would end up sending it to me. I have been struggling physically, emotionally and spiritually. Even after my last health exam where I was 100% cancer free, I still struggled. I was very depressed after the Memorial, I could not sleep. We had to stay home and observe the Memorial on Zoom due to my health issues. I felt like a complete failure. I just don't feel I qualify to enter into paradise. I am my own worst enemy.
  14. Here is a similar ship that recently passed by on the Columbia River, there's multiple bridges that these ships have to go under. The first bridge in Astoria, the Astoria-Megler bridge is one of the most dangerous areas before the bridge was even built. The last photo is the Astoria-Megler bridge from the Astoria Column viewpoint area. This is where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. Since 1792, approximately 2,000 ships have sunk in this area, earning it the nickname “Graveyard of the Pacific.”
  15. I often watch the ships that travel along the Columbia River. In a ship group we were talking about ships running aground and hitting bridges or other ships. The last occurrences of this happening loss of power was involved. The Columbia River has an incredible current and with no power these ships can go off of course. Here is an example of how close these ships come to the bridge pillars where we live. Look how close the two ships are. The river needs to dredged constantly to help ships from running aground.
  16. The SM KWANGYANG goes by Rainier this morning. Almost 1,000 feet (304 meters) in length.
  17. A young Redwing Black bird out during my walk. I thought at first this was a house sparrow. Not being an expert I photo searched using google.
  18. Out watching ships go by on the Columbia River, came across a couple of interesting geese today.
  19. The Navy Ship MERCY goes by Rainier, heading to Portland for repairs. I know these ships are a necessary item in the times we live in. I will not miss them when they are no longer needed. MERCY is a 1,000 bed hospital ship commissioned in 1986, with a military cadre crew of approximately eight Officers and 53 Enlisted personnel and a civilian mariner cadre crew of approximately 15 personnel while in a Reduced Operating Status (ROS). This is the second time we have seen the ship go by in the past two years. It's very interesting living by the Columbia River to see the variety of ships.
  20. Our great grandchildren Jade and Joey came over for a visit today! Both 4. They are cousins.
