Metallic Epoxy Project

Recommended Posts

I need to take the carpet out of the tv room because that's where MDH resides on the weekends. And his spilled coffee...and his food crumbs..and the dogs..Ok you get the picture. So I've been ruminating on what to do with the floor. Carpet was out of the budget, rolled vinyl a maybe. But since we're on a slab I thought hmmm, how about doing the floor myself with paint. Then I thought about all the pros and cons, upkeep, chipping, moisture issues. I've done floor work for years- VCT Tile in grocery stores and large retail shops, so scraping, possibly sanding and scrubbing with my swing won't be an issue for me. So much for the prep. Next I had to find the paint. Here's what I found, and I think I can do it.

But first I want to start small, I have a small but heavy oak dresser left over from mom's stuff. The top and sides have a melamine type overlay but the rest of it is unfinished oak.  post-1083-0-40662600-1451930652.jpg

And this is my inspiration piece. Bought off FB on-line garage sale for 25.00, quite the bargain since it's a signed artist's work! post-1083-0-51313600-1451930752.jpg

Now I Know I'll never be as talented as this artist but I do want to practice and the sad little dresser is the willing (available) participant.

Has anyone done either of these things? Any suggestions or advice?
