Will the Loyal Ones Come to Their End

Do save [me], O Jehovah,

for the loyal one has come to an end

For faithful people have vanished from the sons of men

Untruth they keep speaking one to the other

With a smooth lip they keep speaking

even with a double heart (to every brother)

Jehovah will cut off all smooth lips

Swelling sayings of them he will come to grips

Sayings to acquire a coveted thing perhaps

The tongue speaking great things is a trap

Those who have said as if presenting a toast

“With our tongue we shall prevail

Our lips are with us, they boast

“Who will be a master to us in order to curtail?”

Because of the despoiling of the afflicted ones,

and of the poor ones who sigh

Says Jehovah, “I shall at this time arise…

To put [him] in safety from anyone that puffs at him from on high.”

The sayings of Jehovah are pure sayings, as silver refined

In a smelting furnace of earth, clarified seven times

The more God’s Word becomes a part of you

The more you will produce “fine fruit,”

You yourself, O Jehovah, will guard the loyal one

You will preserve each one from this generation to time indefinite

But the wicked ones walking all around will certainly come
