But To Die, a poem

To die is greater than one might suppose

As objects of the universe we flow

Knowing the amplitude of time do we

And for a solution there is none to be

Life leaves good taste on the palate

Promulgates sweet sounds where ever

Leaves thoughts of oneself alone

If only we’re read before we’re gone

------------------------------------

As two roads converged in the forest

My love and I chose the one we travelled

Realizing how one way leads to another

All equally considered by and by

Never leaving our love a sigh

------------------------------------

A newborn asleep, yet a long life gone

Children born breathing life, their first

Though our hearts are torn, our children come along

Old ones die though in life there is such a thirst

------------------------------------

A word that wasn’t has come to pass

One breathes his first while one breathes his last

Old with discomforts, finished with youthful desires

In my bed there is loneliness, and misery shares my fires

------------------------------------

Soon we forget these ways of tears

as we lounge and sip the teas we try

For we each will meet those final fears

And very soon away we will fly

------------------------------------
