Reminiscing about a lost love

Tears, lonely tears, I do not know what they mean. From within my soul of some brutal despair that rise within me from the depths of my broken heart. They puddle at my eyes and turn into voluminous streams as I look on the earth's beautiful scenes and reminisce of things that were never meant to be.

Fresh as the first beam of light that glitters on the sea and brings my friends up from the darkness that lies deep within me. Oh! As sad as the last tear which reddens over one that sinks with all I love under the horizon; so sad, so fresh from within my heart, the days that are no more.

Ah! Sad and so strange, as in the dark summer, so are my tears that dawn with the earliest tweet of half-wakened gulls. When my dying ears and my dying eyes slowly grows to a glimmering glare; so sad, so strange, were the tears that are no more.

Dear as remembered kisses after ones death; and as sweet as those though hopelessly feigned on lips that are for others; and deep as love, deep as my first love and wild with all regret; oh this death within my life are the days that are no more.
