Tuesday, December 17 ~ They have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge.—Rom. 10:2.

Tuesday, December 17

They have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge.—Rom. 10:2.

When we read directly from God’s Word in the ministry, we are letting Jehovah speak to the householder. A well-chosen scripture will likely be much more powerful than anything we might say. (1 Thess. 2:13) Ask yourself, ‘Do I look for every opportunity to share a portion of God’s Word with those to whom I bring the good news?’ Of course, more is needed than merely reading Bible texts to those we are conversing with. Why? Because many have little or no understanding of the Bible. That was true in the first century, and it is true today. So we should not assume that a person will grasp the point of a verse simply because we read it. We need to take time to isolate portions of the verse—perhaps rereading key words—and explain their meaning. Doing so can go a long way in helping the message of God’s Word to reach the mind and heart of our listeners.—Luke 24:32. w17.09 25 ¶7-8

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

Really liked today's text.  I met a lady in the my parking lot yesterday and I got a chance to talk to her about the signs of the times, and she said, I see them, Amen, Jesus!   I did not have a bible on me or my phone, but did leave her with one of the contact cards.  It fits right in with today's text, zeal for god but without accurate knowledge.  Got home and prayed about her, and I'll try again when I see her, but with my bible so Jehovah can answer her from his word.

This topic made me think about an experience I had a few years ago. I was revisiting a householder who had shown interest in the subject of why there is so much evil in the world. His house was at the end of the road on top of a long hill; it was quite the walk.

This time I asked him who or what he thought is ruling the world. I think he said "money" or "politicians". In any case, I showed him John 12:31 and mentioned that many people answer that the world is ruled by God, but how could that be right when the Bible says that this ruler is being cast out?

Then I followed up with Revelations 12:9 and asked if it had become clearer who the ruler of the world is. He did not seem to get it, so I explained it to him and asked "Doesn't it make sense that the world is full of problems if it is ruled by Satan?".

This appeared to make him think, and he looked intrigued. I felt pretty confident when asking about a return visit; however, much to my disappointment, he declined. I prayed that his heart had been touched, but I don't know if it was. It certainly felt powerful when we read the scriptures together and the penny seemed to drop.If only he were more zealous 🙂
